please.
That is the exact spot my parents found a stray kitten. Nice little addition to the family, but would have been a terrible addition to the pavement had she not been very vocal OTL
No joke, the place where that cat is resting in this picture is called a “dead cat hole” it’s an automotive term. Don’t believe me, look it up.
This is also where I found a stray cat, she was up in there during a thunderstorm and I begged my dad to let me being her inside and that’s the story of how I got my first cat.
Please don’t skip over this without reading it and making a mental note. Even if you don’t have a car, tell your parents or whoever, and make sure to do this. You think that’ll never happen but that’s what everyone thought who had this happen and didn’t check, and that poor cold cat met with a terribly sad end.
REBLOG WHETHER YOU LIKE CATS OR NOT
❓ of the day: for folks who have trouble concentrating/remembering details/procrastinating, what are organizational systems, apps, work habits, etc. that have helped you manage it?
As someone who has struggled greatly, I have tried many organizational strategies and systems. Some were more successful than others, but even the ones that I didn’t like that much have helped me in some way. My main advice to other people who are struggling with concentration/energy/focus issues is to never stop trying, eventually you’re going to find something that works.
Cleaning/tidying:
- The Flylady site: it’s a bit preachy and followers can be intense, but it’s got really good tips on building habits and getting started. I’ll always appreciate her daily emails which pulled me out of my hoarding problem.
- Unfuck Your Habitat: one of the few cleaning sites I’ve found that understands not everyone looking for cleaning advice is able bodied/neurotypical/a SAHM/a woman.
Habit building:
- Habitica: A fun way of keeping track of your day. I didn’t use it a lot, but I still apply some “gamification” strategies to make chores less boring.
- Bulletjournal: this bloody thing has helped me the most. I love how flexible this is, allowing me to use it differently from day to day or not use it at all if I don’t have the energy that day. Very Important Tip: don’t get caught up trying to make your journal Pinterest pretty, use it for organizing first and eye candy second.
- Eternity Time Log: this is a time tracking app that let’s you see how you’re spending your time. I might not use it for a few months at a time but it’s a great app that I go to whenever I need to reset my time management.
Coping mechanisms:
- Timing myself: one way my anxiety manifests itself is making me believe that tasks take forever. Now I can just tell it that I know for a fact that making my bed takes less than five minutes which makes any intrusive thoughts fuck right off.
- Counting: if you are like me and take comfort in numbers, this is great. “My chairdrobe is getting out of hand and I don’t know where to start/it’ll take me forever” just tidy 7 pieces of clothing. “The sink is piling up with dishes” just wash 5. “The living room is so messy I’ll be cleaning all day” just take 10 minutes and do what you can. Often this will jumpstart me and I can do the rest without counting, if not, at least I got something done.
- Writing reminders: on the board, on my calendar, on the fridge, on my journal, on the back of my hand. These are the places I’ll write the same thing until my brain gets the memo that it’s important.
To all of you who thought you’d never go to Hogwarts, your letter just got misplaced, this guy is rushing to reach you. #inktober #swift #hogwarts #hogwartsletter #harrypotter #owl
I guess this needs a caption slightly more clever than "I like monkeys" but it's all I got.
Framed and finished
I had these frames lying around for over a year which I intended to use to put something fun in the bathroom. While clearing out I found them and decided now or never so I doodled something real quick. Colours to follow.
I had a lot of space on the margin of my journal, so I decided to doodle a little dark mark.
Small watercolour experiment. I forgot I had these small watercolour sheets until I started decluttering my craft supplies which of course meant stop cleaning immediately and start doodling instead.

I love every single person who reblogged this
I don’t think people realize how much of an impact this kind of support can have, I don’t think everyone knows what these little things can mean to us.
It may just be me, I don’t know. But every single time I see this on my dash or on someone’s blog or anywhere else, I kind of just breathe a sigh of relief. That’s one more person who cares. That’s one more person who doesn’t hate me.
Because it means so much, especially when all the media is spewing out is that I’m a terrible person and no one wants people like me near them. It means so much because I’m tired of people who won’t sit next to me in class, or who choose to join the longer line at the grocery store because they don’t want to be beside me and my family. It means so much when I have to lift my head any time someone says the words Islam or Muslim because I’m scared that they’ll say something that’ll hurt, when I have to pay attention to the news because who knows what so and so is saying now, who knows which of my people are being attacked now, who knows what’s going to happen to me now.
It means so much because I’ve been given the idea that the world is against me. And a huge part of it may be, but at least I’ve been reminded that some of it, just a small group of people, acknowledges that I’m a person too. That people like me are just that, people.
Maybe it’s just me, I don’t know. But now you do, so thank you for believing that I’m human when so many people don’t.
Have a great day x

Reblog this. It’s so important #justiceformuslims
for people who live waste-free, i have a serious question
how do you deal with toothbrushes/toothpaste/shampoo and small plastic stuff like that? like, do you recycle it or make your own?
1) Toothbrush: there are a bunch of options. Many people go for bamboo brushes, which have nylon bristles. This way you can compost the handle and only throw out the bristles. There are also recycled toothbrushes, but I haven’t seen recycleable toothbrushes. I still have a few plastic ones leftover from my previous life, but am working on making my own from bone and boar bristles, similar to those made in the late 1800′s. If you want to go even more old-school, there’s always chew-sticks.
2) Toothpaste: I don’t use it. I brush my teeth and then rinse with baking soda water. Once a month, I brush with the baking soda to remove plaque. Making your own toothpaste and mouthwash isn’t too hard, though, if you don’t want to do without.
3) Shampoo: I refill my old shampoo bottles at a local organic-type store. It’s far away and a real pain, but I go there and fill 4 bottles and then don’t have to worry about it for another 6 months or more. I’ve recently started thinning my shampoo out with an avocado pit solution, so that has been making it last even longer, which is great (if you have avocado pits handy).
Another option for toothbrushes is a toothbrush with removable heads. At my local health food store you can choose from heads with natural or nylon bristles, though all the handles I've seen were plastic.
Hi Badger! I love reenactment, but I don't see myself joining any local groups or events (I'm in Spain) cause they reeeeally cling to the -wrong- idea that women weren't doing anything but weaving and cooking back then. Is it the same in the UK?
Sorry I took so long but I wanted to give this the answer it deserved!
What I think your asking me is “Is the UK re enactment scene sexist?” unfortunately, as a whole, the answer is yes but in no more than society in the UK is. It is more an extension on peoples deep-rooted shitty ideas that have been ingrained on them from childhood growing up in a patriarchal society. On a specific level though it varies from group to group and era to era. Since I am a War of the Roses reenactor I can only give information based on the 14th and 15th century reenactment scene.
Reenactment events are typically split in two catogories, living history and the reenactment itself. During living history we focus of day to day “civilian” life which involves weaving and cooking but also a vast amount of other things (my friend Hannah runs a tavern for example) but what is important to note is that EVERYONE takes part in the tasks no matter their gender. As for the reenactment itself, well (first of all the person who taught me how to use a sword is a trans woman) they say pictures say a thousand words so :D
A rather smol lady leading a group of men at arms
A woman who fights for the same house of me is just entering frame on the left there
Two women in the gunline reloading
The same two women taking position before the men at arms march off
Throughout history women the wives of soldiers have acted as water carriers in battle. Dehydration was a big killer in medieval warfare due to heavy armour and layers of padding making water carriers life savers and so would be a prime target of enemy archers so they would usually be armoured with at least a helmet.
Not sure if this one is pre or post battle but you can see in this huge cluster of men at arms there are many women equally as armoured and armed as their male counterparts meaning either they are about to march to battle or have just returned form it
While peasant women fought in the front lines high born ladies would train on horseback. Mostly for hunting but also so they could defend themselves if needed
Hope this helped :D
Thanks for the response! I'm personally more interested on crafts and trades than combat, so weaving is definitely for me, but things like blacksmithing or carpentry are as well. Cooking not so much. U^_^
I loved seeing all those warrior ladies though.
