Y'know thought, the idea you mentioned of Shockwave getting drunk and calling Orion before he gets lobotomized gets a bit more sad when you realize that this was the proof Orion was waiting for. I mean, cause he kinda knew, right? And now it's out there, now Shockwave himself has confirmed it, he's not some evil sparkless senator.

No, that gets to happen against his wishes, against his will. Orion knew Shockwave was never a monster and now before he could do anything with that information, Shockwave is turned into one.

Yikes.

This is both very dramatically angsty and stupid because YES Shockwave is completely drunk and he doesn’t really care about keeping secrets anymore. Because what’s the point? He is gonna get subjected to the fate so cruel that death looks like a considerable option in comparison. He won’t die but with his processor irreversibly changed and his emotions removed. Well it’s a death of mind. And his mind is the only HIS thing he has in this book-world. So on one hand. He just wants to talk to someone, to share this horrible fear. Dying is already scary but dying alone is much worse. And again, he can say anything and it won’t matter soon.

But! Also. He is waay too drunk to tell a coherent story. He says lots of stuff and makes Orion incredibly worried but he cannot provide enough useful details. He says “they will come for him” but cannot really specify who are “they” because the book never explicitly mentioned that. He says he never wanted to get in Orion’s way but “hey. Hey why did you do that then?? Who made you do that?” Haha nope.

I think it would be delicious and tragic if drunk Shocky started from something really funny and cute and then switched the topic to more horrifying stuff like “You’re lovely. You’re so lovely and so kind and so trusting and and you forgive. Me! And everyone. How can you do this how are you so great do you even know how great you are it is such a shame you love annother mech, if you were real I would ask you on a datte orr smth it doesn’t matter youlnow imma die soon ijuss don’t want you to hate mme after I die ”

And Orion has to just fucking. Process the fact that Shockwave might a) be legitimately in love with him?? b) be dying literally tomorrow and this whole conversation is not a drinking oopsie but rather a “last words” kind of deal.

Orion of course gets all protective and promises he won’t let anything bad happen. And of course it doesn’t matter and Shockwave gets taken to the Institute anyway. Because. The plot.

I guess Orion has to cope with the fact that after all the time him and Shockwave only had like four hours of cursed drunk honesty. And it doesn’t matter anymore. Not to Shockwave at least, because nothing matters to Shockwave anymore.

You know, if you think about that. They both are like "Am I being too much of a weird creep??" towards each other haha.

Also by knowing the books plot Shockwave basically knows the future. And so he sometimes orders stuff that is completely incomprehensible from a tactical/logical point of view. He is like "trust me this is gonna be relevant 20 chapters later but right now it looks insane". Orion has no idea how the fuck it works but IT WORKS. After a good amount of such predictions Orion just accepts the fact that the Evil Senator apparently can calculate the future so he just goes with "yes sir!" and happily follows Shockwave's insane plans

Minus the parts where it's about romance. How weird. Shockwave knows all Orion's potential romantic interests from the book and sometimes comments on them and Orion is literally never impressed or interested. Mystery..

You said that Shockwave has normal glasses when he's at home. It's got me imagining him sitting there, with big chunky glasses, wrapped up in a fuzzy robe or blanket, sipping on a steaming cup of energon while reading a data pad. Essentially, having a robo spa night. And then something happens. Either Orion has to suddenly find him for orders or a fight breaks down a wall, and then suddenly Orion is standing there, in his apartment, staring at Shockwave having a quiet night in. (Even better if Jazz is there and just baffled and horrified because that CAN'T be Shockwave.)

So, Shockwave has three options: pretend to be a random dude who just happens to look like the evil senator, try to quickly change, or step into his evil senator role while looking all cozy. And regardless of what he decides, Orion is delighted
