I wrote a poem for my dog Bear who passed away. I like to write poetry on occassion but have never shared it with anyone. This one I have to share.
UnBearable
Grief is like a dam of water.
The wall breaks,
the water surges forward
And I, a simple human
Am powerless to its mighty rage.
My breath is stolen.
Current so strong it pains my core.
Slowly, the water loses strength,
And yet, it never stops.
On days of heavy rain,
it comes back in full force
Stronger and slower
Stronger and slower
Over and over
until my final breath
Grief ever present
Consolation of a never fading love
And the hopeful promise:
Another Time,
Another Life,
Another place,
Ill see you again
