We love Tumblr, but we decided to do something new. Check out the new site!
The Aesthetic have been diligently working on their debut EP 'I AM' for over a year and are finally ready to release it! They'll be playing their release show tomorrow night at Beat Kitchen. These fine gentlemen will be accompanied by the smooth and sultry Rails, (Kristen's favorite) dance-rock Minnesota natives The Phoenix Philosophy, and the underappreciated Dash Cunning kicking off the night. I AM is already up for download on iTunes, Amazon, etc., but you can pick up a hard copy as well as some new threads at the show. 8 PM | 17+ | $10
The talented and gracious gentlemen of State and Madison are working on releasing their first ever record. They've had a Kickstarter up for the last few weeks to help fund it and are in the final five days. They've nearly met their goal, but could still use a little bit more! These guys are one of the hardest working bands we know and all of us at SFAS would love to see them meet their goal. Every little bit helps, so dig around your Christmas loot for a couple extra bucks and please send it their way!
SkyCast Episode Five: Terminated mp3 download: bit.ly/skycast5 Our final episode of SkyCast features two of our favorite bands: Archie Powell & the Exports and The Noise FM. We got cozy with these guys to talk mostly about their upcoming Noise For Toys show they're playing on December 16th with The Scissors and State & Madison at Beat Kitchen. The guys also discussed their love of Bush (the band), SkyNet, and what not to do while at shows.
Have you heard about Hidden Hospitals yet? These guys have been around for almost three months, released an EP, have played a total of five shows (their most recent had them opening for Hot Rod Circuit at Bottom Lounge) and released a video for their song 'Swan Dive'.
Hidden Hospitals is composed of former members of New York-based bands Damiera and Kiss Kiss. Their sound is a delicious blend of chugging guitars and carefully crafted and haunting lyrics. If you're still not over The Fireship's breakup earlier this year, Hidden Hospitals are a very good surrogate.
The band is deciding to take things slow and are going into hibernation for the next couple of months to work on tightening their sound and work on new material. Before they play their next show, brush up on their music by clicking here and nabbing yourself a digital copy of EP 001.
Another look into our final episode of SkyCast: Archie of Archie Powell & the Exports plays 'The Darndest Things' off their cd Skip Work. The episode featuring AP&E and The Noise FM will be available for download at the beginning of next month!
A sneak peek into the recording of the last episode of SkyCast: Alex and Austin of The Noise FM play a new, currently untitled song. Watch for the episode to drop at the beginning of December! Just listen to those sweet, soothing harmonies!
For today only, you can get a free download of The Aesthetic's "All In Your Head," off their debut EP set to come out next month.
You can stream it above and download it (right click + save as) here.
Catch The Aesthetic's EP release show at Beat Kitchen on Friday, January 5th, with fellow locals, The Rails, Dashing Cunning, and The Phoenix Philosophy from Minneapolis.
Normally we type out the info for upcoming shows, but we'll let Brett from The Frantic tell you himself.

All three nights will have Walk the Moon opening. Saturday and Tuesday nights are 18+, Sunday is all ages. (If you weren't lucky enough to score tickets, you can try your luck with scalpers on the days of the shows.)
For all those who missed out on tickets for Alkaline Trio's NYE show at Metro, you've got another chance to see them. Kickstand Productions just announced an ALL AGES show at Durty Nellie's in Palatine on Friday, December 30th. Tickets go on sale next Tuesday, November 22nd at 9AM.

Local band Minor Characters released their first EP today. The songs have the perfect mix of indie, pop, and bluesy sounds, with even a hint of surf rock. Singer Andrew Pelletier has a very distinctive voice, almost that of a modern day George Harrison. "Come Break My Heart" is a spot on love song, leaving the listener feeling sympathetic to the lyricist ("I hope you're full of lies/when you told me not to love you anymore"). It's clear that the band's influences include the oldies and classics, but the addition of each members' personal instrumental sounds make it their own. The amount of white noise after "Ladders" left me a little confused at first, which then made me realize that the white noise was sadly the end of the EP. Minor Characters left me wanting more. I'm very much looking forward to what else they've got up their sleeves.
You can stream the self-titled EP in its entirety here.
Catch them tonight at Subterranean with Atlanta's Gringo Star and fellow Chicagoans Village. This 17+ show starts at 8:30PM, with Minor Characters playing first. Grab tickets here.

enjoy this (very brief) look into what happens when SkyCast becomes a thing!
SkyCast Episode Four: The Phoenix Philosophy mp3: download Dance-rock Minneapolis natives The Phoenix Philosophy trekked to our fair metropolis to play a killer show at Elbo Room. Before they did that, we caught them for a few hours, pumped them full of PBR and Becks (Steph from the band and Kristen enjoyed some Coca Colas), made fun of the way they say "out" and "about," and talked music. They're looking to make it back this way by the beginning of the year, so keep your eyes and ears peeled! Find more about them here: www.facebook.com/thephoenixphilosophy Also this month, our SkySnippet is from the wonderful Model Stranger. They'll be playing Elbo Room on the 29th for a Halloween show. Last year they played as David Bowie, so we can only hope that this year will be just as good. Download 'Dreams and Bones' by clicking this right here!
Chiptune band I Fight Dragons released the artwork and date for their new full length off Photo Finish Records yesterday.
