i just think it's really interesting that Neon Genisis Evangeleon is like "the thing that powers the giant robots (the AT (Absolute Terror) field) is our fear of getting close to others, the apocalypse is caused by that boundary being destroyed" and Pacific Rim, which is essentially a love letter to the genre and Eva homage in many ways is like "Actually the thing that powers the giant robots is loving and understanding each other and being closer than two bodies have ever been before, and the apocalypse is stopped by people letting others into their lives that they wouldn't have otherwise" and i think that's neat :3
