Even though Arcane season 2 came out quite a long while ago, I'm still really mad about how people treated caitvi.
Because when I go online, I see a lot of people saying "we want yuri in mainstream media!" and/or "we need lesbian rep in popular shows!", which I totally agree with.
But what I don't understand is that when we actually got representation, a genuine relationship between two women in a popular/mainstream show, people STILL decided to deem it "too toxic" or "poorly written" to make a mlm and a literal STRAIGHT ship more popular instead.
Not to mention that, in my humble opinion, timebomb and jayvik are way more toxic when you really think about it. It's almost like toxicity only matters when it comes to caitvi and people are making shit up just to downplay the cannon, long-lived, lesbian relationship. Because caitvi has been here. Wayyy before Arcane, even in a game such as League of Legends, they've been portrayed and known as two lesbians in love and nobody had a problem with it. (For like 7 years, I think?)
Suddenly Arcane season 2 comes out, blows up, everyone just flips and goes so far as to say that caitvi didn't deserve their good ending and shouldn't have happened at all. What????????
Besides, in the season 1 fandom this absolutely wasn't an issue. Timebomb, jayvik and caitvi could've all existed within the same show without the need for ship wars or anything.
So, yeah, when someone says that there's no lesbian rep in mainstream media my blood literally comes to a boil. Because even when there is, people still find a way to put it down and complain.
