YOUR WEAKNESSES DO NOT DEFINE YOU AS A WHOLE. if you’ve made mistakes or had rough times it does not make you any less of a roleplayer than anyone else on this site. it’s important to remember that you’re human and things are going to happen. if anyone uses those things against you then they are not worth your time.

TOXIC AND CRUEL PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS EXIST IN RP. just like the world their will always be people we are not going to get along with and who will dislike us even if they have no reason to. don’t allow others judgments to get in your way of a healthy roleplay life. remember that those who mind don’t matter. be on roleplay for the benefit and pleasure for yourself and not for other people.

IT’S OKAY TO TAKE YOUR TIME. you’re allowed to have off days, lazy days and those days where you want to avoid the internet altogether. roleplay does not have a ticking clock so neither should you. don’t have to take pressure from anyone nor feel guilt for roleplaying at your own pace.  

BE PROUD OF YOUR CHARACTER. wear your character with pride even if you feel like you’re nothing. just remember that you’re here on roleplay for a reason and you are something. nothing wrong with improvement! nothing wrong with changing your plot and look on a daily basis! this is what character development is. don’t be afraid to step out of the box!

KNOW YOUR WORTH. know that you’re a human being at the end of the day. you don’t have to take any shit from anyone if it makes you feel unsafe. you have the right to be unapologetic and not take shit from people. no one defines your worth, but yourself.

LOOK FOR THE POSITIVES. be thankful of roleplay partners who have been there for you and focus on the support rather than those who are unkind.

I rarely unfollow instantly over any reason, under the premise that maybe what I just witnessed was a fluke, but being told I’m a bad/worthless RPer or that I deserve to die in a hole or any number of extremely tiny things that I can’t glean any constructive criticism from will cause me to unfollow you.

Because those people clearly shouldn’t be following me if they dislike my content that much.

ENGAGE WITH YOUR RP PARTNERS. like or comment on their posts, whether it be an ooc post or something they’ve posted about their character. reblog their promos. send them a meme or two when applicable. acknowledge when they answer memes for you. communicate when a plot or ship isn’t working for you. plot with them. engage with your rp partners. roleplay is a two way street, don’t just let the other person do everything while you put in the bare minimum. and if you’re not getting anything back from your partners, don’t let anyone guilt you into keeping them.

noah fence but rpc should really get back to actually supporting each other ooc. people used to always like/reblog mutuals’ edits, respond to headcanon posts and ooc posts. engagement has gotten worse and worse and then people complain about feeling distant when they aren’t putting in effort to reach out to others. it takes a second to like someone’s headcanon (or respond to it with a comment if you’re worried about clogging likes). it feels so shitty to be trying to make lore posts and share ideas and get crickets back. it isn’t even like talking to an empty room. it’s like talking to a room filled with your friends but none of them even acknowledge that you’re talking to them. we all could put in a little more effort to make each other feel seen and supported ooc. there’s a certain stagnant feeling in the rpc and it really stems from how bad we’ve gotten at communicating and interacting out of character.
