I'm sorry but I'm genuinely CACKLING.
CACKLINGGGGG
EA took games considered abandonware, thought 'how can we resell this?'
Did minimal, and when I say minimal work I mean googled the most common issue, found a mod and took credit for it, and there's stilllll people reaching into their pockets. Baby, what do you mean 'is this limited time / edition or can I wait for my payday?'. Baby, what the fuck?
No honey. Keep your 40 buckies, on me.
Installers and resources for optimzed download & setup of The Sims 2: Ultimate Collection. - voicemxil/TS2-Starter-Pack
Installer / Downloader all in one, their discord has bug fixes. You have all the mods necessary (most likely the exact same ones that EA's intern stole to put into the 're-release') linked.
You want to cry as you google how the fuck to get rid of that clown making your sim go insane in Sims 1?

Here you go baby. ABANDONWARE, because that's what these games have been for the past 20 years. Free for anyone to grab as they are no longer supported.
OH and reminder, you do not have to pay 1k+ for the Sims 4 either.
Vet Bills And More
So, due to emergency cat vet bills my economy this month is...entirely tanked.
I have commissions open and I need to earn enough to get money for her dental. I was going to change my name this year, and try to get a new computer as this one is slowly kicking the bucket and becoming obsolete- but unfortunately that just isn't on the table atm : (
Sunny (my 12 y-o ragdoll) needs to have a tooth removed and in sweden that's estimated at 5500 SEK MINIMUM and they recommend saving up to twice that amount.
This isn't even viable on my government support, like I will have 20 bucks until February 19th due to her emergency vet just now (she ate something and was vomiting blood, she is okay-ish now).
So if you have any money to spare, or maybe is interested in my art it'd mean so much if you could peek at my ko-fi!
Support Maven On Ko-fi. Ko-fi lets you support the people and causes you love with small donations
The money collected will go towards vet bills and me getting you know...food LMAO. Luckily I'm stacked up on my meds for now or that'd be an absolute fucking catastrophe.
I don't really have anything else to say. I'm honestly so exhausted and ran around so much yesterday.
after way too long finally heres an update on teddy!
kinda a long post so putting this under a read more:
hey i hope you’re doing okay i was wondering if teddy is holding up and if you were feeling any better
thank you so much for your concern!! ❤️ teddy is doing good, he's getting better by the day and is very comfortable, he's been going to his usual spots again to watch birds and sleep and just today he's started talking to me when i asked him about breakfast like he usually does! he's sleeping a lot to heal and i'm just making sure he feels completely relaxed and like things are back to normal, he really likes routine so im doing my best to keep him on track.
i've started to try and get some sleep again granted they're very light sleeps and making sure i eat enough, my mental health is in the dumps again but thats normal for me and i can push through, my moms also here to help me stay strong so i can in turn stay strong for teddy so im okay, but thank you for looking out for the both of us!! ❤️❤️❤️
please help me pay my kitties emergency vet bill!
ive never done this before but one of my cats just had to get an extremely sudden emergency procedure and i don't know what to do, my vet and i have reached out to a couple incredible programs here to help with the bill but one is less than half and the other hasn't replied back yet, i've already declined the blood work (CA$356) to lower the bill at the risk of possible underlying liver and kidney issues not being found but its still a monumental amount for us right now. i just feel so helpless
we had enough to pay the minimum deposit to get the procedure started in time thankfully, but we were already scraping by as it is and now we're in desperate need of funds to eat/pay rent/pay off any remainder of the bill. i am disabled without aid and have been unable to work/haven't worked since 2015 but am on track to hopefully start working pt this fall. i live with my mom who has 3-4 jobs including one seasonal job which needless to say is stressful and wearing her down. we unfortunately are stuck in the most expensive place to live in canada with the inability to save up to flee so the cycle is never ending.
this is Teddy, my typically very silly vocal happy boy who's not quite 2 yet, my comfort king, my little muffin who acts like a weighted blanket for me at night and eases my anxiety, his favourite toy is his pink unicorn poof, he loves car rides and he can shake paw!
he got a sudden urinary blockage last night with no straight answer as to why and progressively got worse as the night went on, i didnt sleep at all, i was panicking and bawling, naturally, and raced to the vet to get in as soon as the door opened. i assumed it was a uti which wouldn't have been as costly, but it turned out to be much more severe and life threatening. i never expected my usually extremely healthy boy to suddenly be at risk of that and im still trying to just process whats been happening
he needed to be sedated and given a catheter and some medication, the total bill came to CA$985.62, of which we were barely able to pay 500 of, and one program was able to donate 300 leaving a total of CA$185.62 for the bill. this, of course, leaves us scrambling for food and rent as well
i know there are a lot of fundraisers out there needing donations right now, and i really hate letting myself be so open and raw like this but even a dollar would help tremendously and i would be forever grateful for any help whatsoever, even a rb to signal boost is greatly appreciated <3
TLDR; my cat had a sudden life threatening issue and now we can't pay the full vet bill or pay for food/rent
Paypal
UPDATE
First of all thank you SO much for all the help so far, my mom and I are so incredibly thankful for you all, I truly cannot thank you enough for donating and boosting!!!
Teddy is home for now, but not out of the clear yet there's still a lot of risks involved but I'm doing my best to stay positive for his sake. Hes very exhausted and upset with the cone and his situation, but he is urinating and drinking which is great!! I'll be taking him back there in the morning for lab results and a check up
Additional fees have been added for extra medication raising the unpaid cost to about 230 (I'll be getting an updated estimate tomorrow with the exact figures) they may also put him back on iv which I'm unsure if that will be added on as well a second time, with him drinking I'm hopeful he wont need it. The second donation program we contacted denied our request for aid so everything from now is completely out of pocket and our vet does not do payment plans sadly
This has been a whirlwind of emotions and incredibly exhausting, please hope for my little guy to recover well with the medication he has and have no complications, he means the world to me and I can't and don't want to imagine a nightmare where he isn't by my side
UPDATE
he was doing so well until he got blocked again, i dont even have the energy to write up a whole post i am so physically sick
we have absolutely no money for another procedure, we would need at least CA$700 to get another catheter in TODAY within the next 6 hours before the vet closes or he will die
im doing all i can to try and help him pass it at home but its an extremely extremely low chance, im not giving up but i am living in hell right now. something as fucked up as money is stopping me from saving the light of my life
thank you everyone for the swift action on this i'm so shaken i can't really express myself atm but i am so incredibly grateful for all the help and donations thusfar
current progress: CA$700/700???+ (this is a rough estimate by me using my previous itemized bill minus the urine sample, urinalysis and pain injection as hes on painkillers already i am not sure if they will still inject him regardless which is a $75 fee in of itself. my vet likes to drop things on me without warning until its time to pay)
i will keep this updated as much as i can and will be firm with them to not do anything without my ok first
UPDATE
sorry for the late update i needed to get some food in me after all this and just breathe, i hadn't eaten anything all day or slept more than a few hours for days im absolutely shattered
Teddy is at the vet, currently coming off the anaesthesia as we speak and its all thanks to you incredible people for helping me more than I could've ever imagined! I have no idea what state he would be in right now if not for you all, neither would I know my own state for that matter, and I truly truly don't know how I could ever show the magnitude of my appreciation. My mom and I both are so grateful and love all you kind souls more than you know ❤️
He'll be staying overnight being watched by his vet and have his catheter in all night long, I did mention I would like to have it in as long as possible/they deem necessary just to try and get everything out, I want that boy FLUSHED. I'll get a call in the morning for an update on how he is post sedation grogginess.
I talked through the first estimate with them fully, he didn't need the pain killer injection thankfully, and didn't need the iv either which came as a pleasant surprise as he's hydrated enough right now to use a less invasive medication (which I'm thankful for not only price wise but his poor arm is already bruised from the last one) So far the estimate for today is almost $600 (I'm a dumbass and forgot to ask for a copy of the first est, too much on my mind but I'll update with the full bill once I get it) tomorrow will be talks of any need for iv, longer hospital stay, additional care and prescription food to hopefully help prevent this from happening again. My vet also wants an eventual second urinalysis in a few weeks/month to check his glucose levels, he had some in his lab results but it was likely stress related. He's very young and healthy, minus this event, so its unlikely he's diabetic but they would like to check it out and I'd also like that piece of mind for his sake
Once again, none of this could've happened without you all, its actually hard to even believe this is real. From the bottom of my heart, thank you ❤️ Let's hope this is the last of this nightmare and he's free from complications, and hope this is the last emergency he or any of my babies go through!
I'll update again tomorrow but for now heres some baby!teddy tax feat his brother Alistair before I go and get some much needed sleep
UPDATE
sorry once again for the very late update, teddy has been requiring quite literally every second of my time right now but i can write when hes napping
teddy is home again, and he's really messed up on his meds. he's now also taking lorazepam on top of his antibiotics and gabapentin, coupled with another bout of sedation he's extremely high right now. i was not told taking these two would increase side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, confusion ect he's completely fucked up right now. they also didnt tell me the side effects of this new med, one being vocalization which is horrible to hear esp when you dont know why its happening, the only way to stop him meowing sometimes is to hold him like a baby and sing as i walk up and down the hall. i had to literally google all these side effects and interactions myself
he is drinking lots, eating lots but he has not peed yet again. im trying to stay so positive right now, maybe its because he's so fucked up on meds, maybe he just needs some time, i have no idea. hes trying, not straining, but nothings coming out yet, he did poop however so in theory he does have control over his muscles enough back there which should mean he can pee, and yet...
im so exhausted, but im also EXTREMELY pissed off now. i am done with this vet, i never even got a call today for reassurance until late, i had to call three times to ask about him and was only able to get small updates from the other staff bc the vet was in surgeries, understandable of course surgeries are top priority, but he or one of the staff could've at least called in the am like i was expecting. i didn't receive a call until 4:30 as i was walking out the door to go there
they removed the catheter before calling me, i said i would've liked to keep it in for as long as possible yesterday but it was in for less than 24 hours again (first time it was in for less than 12) and they didn't check if he could go on his own afterwards afaik. it seemed like they were just shrugging me off, i had to ask all the questions that really should've been explained by them first I had to be the one to even ask if this new medication could even be TAKEN with his other ones. i had to ask if he was given his meds this morning (he wasnt last night because 'he was still very groggy from the anaesthesia' which im sure is code for 'place is closed time to go home' i hope his pain medication stayed in his system enough to last overnight) something didnt feel right yesterday when i stood my ground to them, it really feels like the vet wants to wipe his hands clean and move on like he knew i wouldnt be giving them more money for surprise additions (which mind you, the new medication was a surprise and never spoken about. his first dose of it was at 9am, they had ample time to call me beforehand and explain he would be taking it)
when the vet finally called he also mentioned randomly that he has a minor heart murmur likely from birth, except i know for a fact he's never had one he's been checked over multiple times since birth and has always had a super clean bill of health. i asked if it could be caused by the blockage but he said its unrelated and then said he wanted to xray or ultrasound to check right then and it would be 850-900+$ with adding on a bunch of words as if to scare me. of course i dont want my boy to be ill but all this happening and knowing that im already struggling to pay just feels like a way to milk more money from me. of course a check would need to be done but i would've appreciated an 'in the future we will want to check this' and not 'he can collapse' when im already dealing with teddy being on deaths door. not to mention having him be sedated again i can't imagine being good at all for him. the way it was gone about feels wrong and i was a wreck until i talked to my mom about it and she reassured me. scouring studies i did in fact find its relatively common for murmurs to happen with acute urinary blockage in cats, so saying it was absolutely unrelated further adds to my mistrust. to add on even more, i also know for a fact ultrasounds for cats are nowhere NEAR 900 dollars
i don't know how teddy is going to hold up tonight, he's not all there from the drugs and hes not peeing. im so broken im numb, but im angry now. im going to do the absolute best i can for him, im calling around other vets tomorrow to see what can be done, im going to get second opinions and ask if what this vet did was as wrong as i think it is. i am preparing for the worst but working hard for the best and i am never going back to that place, they've taken thousands of dollars from us in the last two years with most of it from just this weekend and for what? just to be pushed aside?
please everyone keep teddy in your thoughts and hope he can somehow recover from this, hope he can make it through the night and finally pee, he can pee on whatever he wants i dont even care i just want him back to normal
UPDATE
ill have to get to my replies later but i need to update right now
teddy was getting even worse, the meds were horrible to him and he just started to take a dive. he was dead weight, couldn't stand it was devastating to see him trying to pee or do anything really only to just fall. he was confused, scared, couldnt sleep for more than a couple minutes after having literally tried to calm him like a baby. this wasn't your typical sedative, calming med loopiness this was extreme, ive never seen a cat act this way before, let alone while on relaxants. its hard to explain but when you've experienced cats pass before you just know the signs and he was showing them rapidly later in the morning. i had another total breakdown so mom took the reigns and called them and absolutely ripped them apart. they're at fault for this getting worse, for this horrible medication, for not leaving the catheter in for longer like i said i wanted so he wouldnt have to go through that procedure AGAIN, its invasive enough ONCE let alone 2 or 3 times, for not ensuring he could pee on his own before just sending him off carelessly, for not communicating and hyperfocusing on money for issues that arent even an issue night now and could be done later. blockages are difficult to address as is, but the way they went about it made it even worse. the vet told us to get him in right away for the reaction to the new medication, and we were firm that we are NOT paying this is their fault I'm amazed teddy was able to make it through the night, he's so incredibly strong
as much as i dont ever want to go back there im doing everything for him and we raced him there, they're going through all kinds of checks to make sure he's ok and also working on his peeing. he had a wet bowl movement before i got the call, which couldve been from the sudden change to his prescription diet, the new med, the situation or anything, but was so weak he couldnt even stand so it got all over him, i had to wash him off and that seemed to kind of kick him into moving again, not much but a lot more than i had seen all morning after becoming exhausted, almost like it switched him back on to keep fighting.
so far he's doing well his bp is only slightly high due to the stress of being there but hes inflamed which also is making the urine they can push out tinged with blood. they're monitoring him constantly in fact she (this is a different vet from the owner, ive had good experiences with her) said he's being held almost all the time by another staff member, she will be giving him a boost of antibiotics as an injection and a single anti inflammatory since he got his bloodwork done and he doesnt have any kidney or liver issues or anemia/anything else. they offered for me to stay with them there so i can be with him but i needed to get back to my other babies to make sure they dont stress more either, i have to keep them healthy too so im getting updates over the phone. hes eating there hopefully thatll give him a boost of energy because though they can bring him out and walk him around/play hes still very sleepy. he hasnt peed but his bladder isnt full either, i asked why since he was drinking like crazy and she said its likely because he's dribbling tiny amounts almost constantly, his blanket has some small spots (i noticed when he was home his peepee was wet a lot but no full pees) im going to be grabbing him again soon before they close and then taking him back first thing in the morning for her to check his bladder again, if its full and hard again she's putting a catheter in again. she's also giving me a prescription for a bladder relaxer thats non drowsy, but its a gamble what pharmacies have it. we still are firm we are not paying, i'm still so scared because if they DO try to ding us with the bill we will absolutely be out of donations to help, the last bill was $606, on top of that all the gas needed to even get there and back is crushing, and i have no idea what will happen but its not something i can even think about right now
idk how its going to go we're just taking this one step at a time, my anxiety has made me so sick i want this nightmare to be over with and him at home safe and sound.
again thank you all so much for your concerns for my boy, all the help, the donations, the kind words its incredible how many are wishing and working for his recovering ill update again and get to replies as well when i can
UPDATE
another update right now before i try to get to all the messages and replies
first off i know i keep saying this but thank you all so much i am truly at a loss for words how extremely generous kind and concerned you all are for this situation, i appreciate every bit of advice and well wishes more than you know, we would never be able to get this far and given him the help he needs to try and get rid of this without your help, i love you all and thank you, thank you, thank you a million times over, hopefully this is the very last hurdle we must overcome
when i got to the vet they brought him in without his crate so we could judge his behaviour. he was slightly better, a good bit more stable on his feet and eyes were a bit clearer, but hes still acting similar to last night. he's not himself at all, he's like a completely different cat right now aside from recognizing us. his perception is also way off, he's confused and looks like he's just looking right through you not at you like theres just something not right, he will also not stop meowing/yowling which mostly is due to pain (hes on pain killers but of course will hurt regardless. this is excessive though especially for a cat who never acted this way) they mentioned he was quiet when he was there, but that does make sense if he's in an environment he hates or feels unsafe in he's going to stay quiet.
they gave him an antidote to remove the effects of the lorazepam but it still seems to be in his system, if hes still this way tomorrow they'll give him another. being that his symptoms arent as extreme (the best way i can describe how he was moving last night was almost like distemper, he's not moving like that atm though thankfully!!) and now more on the lines of typical sedation side effects i can at least try and hope that they'll wear off and did no neurological damage and he can go back to being teddy again. with all the shit hes going through already he did not need to go through this too but he's so strong and working so hard to get better i cannot be more proud of him
aside from that, every single test they ran he passed with flying colours, he's extremely healthy in every other way. his urine colour was a little better later in the day, still not the way it should be but it is getting better, that alone could've even been from the reaction. i was also given a prescription for prazosin which ill hopefully be able to fill tomorrow, it wont work for at least 7 days but i want to get it started asap, anything to try and help
he ate a ton and drank at home, its just a matter of ignoring his meowing until he finally gives up and sleeps and hoping he can pee on his own, he's dribbling quite a bit for what its worth, hopefully the anti inflammatory will work its magic on him as he rests
UPDATE
if you have seen the update posted by my friend for me (thank you so much julie) you know things are looking grim but i will NOT stop fighting for him, not when he's still so healthy and happy otherwise
he went back again for the recheck, blocked, he was only dripping (consistently, but only drips) he couldnt be squeezed out and was filling up, because of this my mom and i had to talk about what could happen.. putting him through yet another bout of sedation was so risky hes been through so much, putting another catheter in was so risky bc hes inflamed still from him needing it two times before. i decided to just bring him home, relax him, see how he was and just let him be happy at home, see how tomorrow fairs and go from there sort of thing. i had the vet syringe out some urine to relieve some pressure and make him more comfortable
he was himself, still has some mind issues that arent like him at all from that drug reaction but he's back enough and happy and thats the most important thing. you would never guess he's going through this awful thing, hes so healthy and normal and just... was teddy. eating and drinking of course, he played with his brother, his poof, looked outside gave me paw rolled over and gave me his belly, just normal teddy things. i got his paw prints in clay and ink and just tried to act as normal as possible with him. he did start getting very tired later on but even still he was alert and ok, peaceful, and that comfort is really the best thing for him. me, my mom, teddy, alastair and marmee all slept together in bed the whole night which usually the cats do sleep all night with me in bed sometimes getting up to explore, but not on my moms bed, its like al and marmee knew teddy needed them. he didnt move but he needed the sleep and was exhausted, that drug they gave him made him almost completely unable to relax and sleep so he really needed this nice long solid rest.
this morning he was trying to pee and only dribbles came out, of course because hes still blocked, he's upset about it but still normal and able to walk around, eat/drink, hold his poof and follow me around. we were talking about...that...again when the vet called, im so FURIOUS at them, yes they've been helping and i do appreciate that so much but he wouldnt have NEEDED all this help if they didnt do what they did. im still so angry and blame them for not giving him the proper care he needed on day 1, the catheter he had in 'being halfway out' and taking it out before i got there after at most 6 hours being in is still so fucking sketchy and wrong to me. why was it halfway out? catheters shouldnt just slip out, they fucked it up and my boy paid for it. and then the medication they just gave to him without even TELLING me when i talked to them 4 times on the phone through the day screwing him over so bad. no, you cant predict adverse reactions, but if they TOLD me they were going to give him anxiety meds i wouldve refused, he doesnt have any stress at home and he's such a trooper that he just forgets about the awful things he has to endure at the vets when hes home. the way they tend to sugarcoat everything like its all fine and dandy (the catheter slipping out to ME doesnt seem like something you just offhandedly say like its nbd) pisses me the fuck off. not to mention one of the receptionists for a SECOND time forgot to give me his bag of medication and my head is spinning so i cant notice these things until late, we had to turn back and go get them and shes just like sorry about that! ^-^ the others all had the decency to lower their voices and be gentle but whatever im just getting mad at everything
anyway i had to air a lot of my grievances out, i still dont know if its through their heads but the vet lady, the only one i trust out of them and she's really wanting to be there for me which i do appreciate im just very very against this clinic rn, shes a temp there as the main vet/owners on vacation, asked if i wanted to try the catheter again since we talked about it yesterday. he's been doing so well, hes so strong and was very happy last night....i cant give up on him when hes like this. i cant miss another opportunity to potentially save him regardless of the fact i never wanted to go there again. this is the last ditch effort to try, its either this or giving up and im not giving up yet, hes so bright and healthy and strong he has so much life left in him. its worth a shot. he will be home with me with the catheter in, he wont be happy, i wont get sleep again, but its worth it
hes also chipped a tooth, the very tip of his left fang is gone whether it was done here or at the vets, either way its because of that drug reaction and their fault and i will never forgive them for that either
anyway he's going through the procedure now, please everyone have him in your thoughts, they discounted the fuck out of the bill this time, they know how angry we are and just how much THEY did to him to ruin his recovery. i dont even want to pay them but its what it is, we can get through this. the discounted price is $300, im also going to demand they reimburse us for that shitty medication, which he only had one of to begin with, maybe be able to get some more wet food as he only has one left as compensation idk
also pu surgery is thousands of dollars and though it would greatly increase his chances of him not being blocked again, it can still happen and he could be in and out of the vet constantly for utis and always be on special food still. i would do it in a heartbeat if i could but for now its not doable. when he survives this we're going to start saving and really try getting it done
as for us, i did get some sleep last night thankfully, im still nearly blacking out at some points but im a bit better today. i've lost 7 pounds in one week though bc of this, and its not water weight since i shed most of my water weight a few months ago. one of my back muscles is torn or i have a pinched nerve or something, moms exhausted as she also still has to work, her stress is through the roof. its taken its toll on us, it still is, but we're fighting hard for him.
thank you all for everything you've done, and any help is of course still extremely appreciated with this third procedure we have just enough for it thanks to you amazing people but the estimate can get raised again, they've done it plenty before, he needs more food to break down the crystals and prevent them, and we need gas to actually go there and back since we've had to do that countless times already. all well wishes and love and hope for him is so appreciated, please keep him in your thoughts <3
UPDATE 08/08
I'm sorry for not updating for so long, I've been 100% focused on Teddy and this situation and I'm just extremely exhausted and overwhelemed, the days have been muddling into one I can't even believe its been this long since this nightmare began. I've even been afraid to even speak up about it from fear of things turning
Teddy is home he's happy hes healing hes eating and peeing in better amounts often and being himself, we are not out of the woods yet and may never be but I'm staying positive I'm doing everything I can to keep him progressing and healing. I want to once again thank you all so so so much for your help, he would not be here right now if not for all you incredible people, we would have never ever been able to do this without you. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much, thank you for everything, thank you for saving my Teddy and keeping him and my mom and I in your thoughts ❤️
As for the vet I found some disturbing legal issues looking up the head vet/owner that don't come as a surprise, and continued to experience blatant lying to both us and other clients from vets and staff. I found a list of side effects the medication he was given has and he exhibited almost all of them including the overdose symptoms, major side effects I was especially focused on were blood in urine, dark urine and inability to urinate, all of which he of course had. He never had blood in his urine until he was given that medication, his urinalysis even proves this as well as the times he was expelled manually and they raved about how good the colour was. Without a shadow of a doubt that medication he was given made him relapse and stopped his recovery/made it worse, on top of whatever may be with him for life including his broken tooth I hope never becomes an issue for him. They promised to look at it but never did.
I do want to pursue legal action against them if I can at all, even if nothing comes of it I want it to be known and publicized so people can be wary of this vet and look elsewhere, I don't want any other pet or owner to go through this hell we went through.
Thank you all for your messages of advice and support, I truly can't thank you all enough for the attention and care you've all given, I'll try to respond to everyone though I will be very slow! Here's some pictures of Teddy in the last few days though for you, I know he's extremely thankful for you all as well and I'm giving him so many extra pets and kisses for you all ❤️
And if you can please share or donate to his GFM to get PU surgery, he is not out of the woods yet and though I hope so much this will never ever happen again, I can never be certain and that fear will always be in my mind

UPDATE 08/15
Now that I finally feel like I have a little time to sit down and write a bit I just wanted to explain a little more since my last update wasn't that detailed, I'm still super tired and really struggling with my mental health right now hence why I haven't gotten back to everyone yet but I need to get this out and I owe every one of you amazing people that have saved Teddy a proper update and run down of expenses
First up, Teddy is getting better with some days being harder than others, he had a little bit of constipation i assume from a mix of the food change, antibiotics and lorazepam plus the horrible weather we had and getting off the stress of constantly being at the vets but thankfully it cleared up in less than 2 days. I add a ton of water to his food 4 times a day to keep him hydrated so that certainly helped. He's still not 100% himself yet though; he doesn't come when called like he used to and isnt as talkative and sometimes seems a little more reserved but its getting better by the day so hopefully he can get back to being as happy as he was before. I'm doing everything I can to make him feel back to normal and its slowly working, every day his eyes are getting brighter and just today he had a conversation with me about breakfast! He's leaking sometimes which could take weeks to heal but honestly I'm just glad he's able to pee (he is peeing normally otherwise! he just has an old man bladder right now, after three catheters i can see why. it just simply means more laundry and floor cleaning which is fine) they're slowly getting less frequent as he builds control again
I didn't mention what happened after his last procedure so I'll try to quickly zip through that: we brought him home with the catheter in, it was a hell of a night but absolutely needed, he would not have survived if he was left there the entire night again with no supervision no assurance he was drinking or getting his medication, nothing. I didn't sleep, kept him calm and laying down in the crate, kept him drinking and everything. we brought him back there in the morning (they charged us again for this, even though we had paid the full hospitalization fee already and wouldn't have had to pay an extra time if we left him overnight, anything to get money right) so they could monitor him before the cath would get taken out later in the day. i had to be the one to tell them how to do everything which is still just so fucking nuts to me but whatever. went back later in the day (we dropped him off at 8-9am, went there at 3:30pm so he could have the full 24+ hours of catheter time) and as we were waiting we heard one of the staff blatantly lie to another customer which blew our minds; she was suffering with her cats getting fleas even when using prevention and asked if it could be because of the rodent infestation she was dealing with bringing fleas into the home making the prevention useless, the staff member without missing a beat said QUOTE 'rats and mice don't get fleas.' and tried to upsell her a different more expensive prevention medication made for DOGS. i was literally so shocked i couldnt speak but i panicked and went out the door as she left to at least tell the lady that dog flea treatment is toxic to cats, i was too flustered to even mention the rodent thing but i could tell she knew that already and seemed to know what she was told was bullshit. im still so fucking floored by this. after that as we waited in the exam room, i finally decided to look up the owner/vets name and found a pretty disturbing assault case from 2015 where he also lied to the police and court that made me feel like we really weren't crazy here, this man is a liar and violent and i just really wish i can somehow take his license away, nobody like that should be handling animals. anyway back to teddy, he got his cath removed and only after that and being brought back to see him was told he didn't eat or drink anything the whole day, i was never called and told this even though they had all day to. this is just a normal thing for them apparently, they just don't care to inform me about anything so i told them they should have called me and to get him hydrated right now. (not to mention they kept trying to feed him chunky gravy food for gastro health not urinary even though i told them he prefers pate and he should be eating urinary food??!??!?!?) he got a shot and we went home. after getting home i also found out that they weren't giving him his antibiotics correctly, he needed 1.5 tablets but the number was off and he was only given 1 by them (this is on top of them forgetting to give me back his bag of medication TWICE) everything they could've done wrong, they did. they told me to keep the cone on for two days to let his sutures heal (they never told me this the first two times mind you which i find weird?) so i did but two days seemed so short so i kept it on periodically for a few days after that when i wasn't around him, its off now and the only time he goes after the spot is for a very quick normal clean around the area, im constantly monitoring him and checking the area though
I got a call from them 4 days later (on wednesday bc they took an extra long weekend) asking about him and I told them that I will have a talk with the owner and figure out how I want to proceed when I'm able to take my focus off Teddys recovery a bit, I didn't want to relay to the vet/owner through the secretary because thats not right and also their communication is abysmal, but i did say some things about the complete lack of communication and negligence experienced and that Teddys recovery was completely halted and his life put in danger because of them shoving a full dose anxiety pill with a plethora of renal side effects into him he didn't need without my consent. It's been a week since that, I don't know when I'll have my head in order to talk to this vet, or if I want to see if I can talk to a lawyer first or what because this isn't something I'm used to at all, but right now my focus is still on Teddy
The cost in total ended up being $1,778.95 for the procedures alone and a couple cans of food, which was incredibly paid for by everyone of you amazing amazing people, you ended up raising $1,830.54 to save Teddy by the third procedure, of which that extra $51.59 went towards some more food for him. I've said this so many times now but this would not have been able to happen without all of you incredibly kind and generous people, Teddy is here with me right now curled up because of you all and I could never ever thank you enough for this. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, from my moms, from teddys and the rest of my animals, thank you so much. We may not be out of the woods but I'm staying positive, he's here now and not in pain and healing which is what matters most ❤️
here he is this morning loafing on my nightstand for the first time since this started ❤️
I'll need to update his gfm page a bit to add on what I've written here but for now this post and its update reblogs are completely up to date with what all has happened as of aug 15!
This is my absolutely sweet, loving and smart boy Teddy. On J… Kiana Passenger needs your support for Help my cat get life saving Perineal U
edit: i did forget to add on something i want to mention just for documents sake but after bringing him home after his last procedure he was extremely uncharacteristically jumpy and seemed afraid of the water bowls around the house which isn't like him at all, i drummed it down to anaesthesia weirdness but he hasn't drank out of any water bowl or taps since coming back when he used to be such a good drinker, the jumpiness stopped but he only eyes the bowls and walks past. i am giving him a ton of water in his food which could make him not feel the need to drink but i still just want to document it.
another thing im not happy about is the fact he's now flinching from hands sometimes, especially with a cone on, which he's NEVER done, he's never known fear in his life so this is heartbreaking to see him squeeze his eyes and recoil or completely tense up and freeze if the cones on (i calm him and he goes back to normal) i don't want to think the worst of someone, but i don't trust this vet at all and with some reviews I've seen of animals coming home with bruises I'm just heartbroken for Teddy. I'm working through it with him and so far he hasn't flinched in a few days
please help me pay my kitties emergency vet bill!
ive never done this before but one of my cats just had to get an extremely sudden emergency procedure and i don't know what to do, my vet and i have reached out to a couple incredible programs here to help with the bill but one is less than half and the other hasn't replied back yet, i've already declined the blood work (CA$356) to lower the bill at the risk of possible underlying liver and kidney issues not being found but its still a monumental amount for us right now. i just feel so helpless
we had enough to pay the minimum deposit to get the procedure started in time thankfully, but we were already scraping by as it is and now we're in desperate need of funds to eat/pay rent/pay off any remainder of the bill. i am disabled without aid and have been unable to work/haven't worked since 2015 but am on track to hopefully start working pt this fall. i live with my mom who has 3-4 jobs including one seasonal job which needless to say is stressful and wearing her down. we unfortunately are stuck in the most expensive place to live in canada with the inability to save up to flee so the cycle is never ending.
this is Teddy, my typically very silly vocal happy boy who's not quite 2 yet, my comfort king, my little muffin who acts like a weighted blanket for me at night and eases my anxiety, his favourite toy is his pink unicorn poof, he loves car rides and he can shake paw!
he got a sudden urinary blockage last night with no straight answer as to why and progressively got worse as the night went on, i didnt sleep at all, i was panicking and bawling, naturally, and raced to the vet to get in as soon as the door opened. i assumed it was a uti which wouldn't have been as costly, but it turned out to be much more severe and life threatening. i never expected my usually extremely healthy boy to suddenly be at risk of that and im still trying to just process whats been happening
he needed to be sedated and given a catheter and some medication, the total bill came to CA$985.62, of which we were barely able to pay 500 of, and one program was able to donate 300 leaving a total of CA$185.62 for the bill. this, of course, leaves us scrambling for food and rent as well
i know there are a lot of fundraisers out there needing donations right now, and i really hate letting myself be so open and raw like this but even a dollar would help tremendously and i would be forever grateful for any help whatsoever, even a rb to signal boost is greatly appreciated <3
TLDR; my cat had a sudden life threatening issue and now we can't pay the full vet bill or pay for food/rent

Here's some pictures of Teddy in the last few days though for you, I know he's extremely thankful for you all as well and I'm giving him so many extra pets and kisses for you all ❤️
And if you can please share or donate to his GFM to get PU surgery, he is not out of the woods yet and though I hope so much this will never ever happen again, I can never be certain and that fear will always be in my mind

please help me pay my kitties emergency vet bill!
ive never done this before but one of my cats just had to get an extremely sudden emergency procedure and i don't know what to do, my vet and i have reached out to a couple incredible programs here to help with the bill but one is less than half and the other hasn't replied back yet, i've already declined the blood work (CA$356) to lower the bill at the risk of possible underlying liver and kidney issues not being found but its still a monumental amount for us right now. i just feel so helpless
we had enough to pay the minimum deposit to get the procedure started in time thankfully, but we were already scraping by as it is and now we're in desperate need of funds to eat/pay rent/pay off any remainder of the bill. i am disabled without aid and have been unable to work/haven't worked since 2015 but am on track to hopefully start working pt this fall. i live with my mom who has 3-4 jobs including one seasonal job which needless to say is stressful and wearing her down. we unfortunately are stuck in the most expensive place to live in canada with the inability to save up to flee so the cycle is never ending.
this is Teddy, my typically very silly vocal happy boy who's not quite 2 yet, my comfort king, my little muffin who acts like a weighted blanket for me at night and eases my anxiety, his favourite toy is his pink unicorn poof, he loves car rides and he can shake paw!
he got a sudden urinary blockage last night with no straight answer as to why and progressively got worse as the night went on, i didnt sleep at all, i was panicking and bawling, naturally, and raced to the vet to get in as soon as the door opened. i assumed it was a uti which wouldn't have been as costly, but it turned out to be much more severe and life threatening. i never expected my usually extremely healthy boy to suddenly be at risk of that and im still trying to just process whats been happening
he needed to be sedated and given a catheter and some medication, the total bill came to CA$985.62, of which we were barely able to pay 500 of, and one program was able to donate 300 leaving a total of CA$185.62 for the bill. this, of course, leaves us scrambling for food and rent as well
i know there are a lot of fundraisers out there needing donations right now, and i really hate letting myself be so open and raw like this but even a dollar would help tremendously and i would be forever grateful for any help whatsoever, even a rb to signal boost is greatly appreciated <3
TLDR; my cat had a sudden life threatening issue and now we can't pay the full vet bill or pay for food/rent

An update on Teddy
hello everyone, this is @raredrop speaking on kiki's behalf! i'm just gonna keep it short so she can give a better update when she's able to.
things are not looking good, and she doesn't have the energy to be here herself to reply to everyone or give a proper update. she wishes to be with teddy as much as possible.
thank you everyone for your support during this time.

UPDATE
ill have to get to my replies later but i need to update right now
teddy was getting even worse, the meds were horrible to him and he just started to take a dive. he was dead weight, couldn't stand it was devastating to see him trying to pee or do anything really only to just fall. he was confused, scared, couldnt sleep for more than a couple minutes after having literally tried to calm him like a baby. this wasn't your typical sedative, calming med loopiness this was extreme, ive never seen a cat act this way before, let alone while on relaxants. its hard to explain but when you've experienced cats pass before you just know the signs and he was showing them rapidly later in the morning. i had another total breakdown so mom took the reigns and called them and absolutely ripped them apart. they're at fault for this getting worse, for this horrible medication, for not leaving the catheter in for longer like i said i wanted so he wouldnt have to go through that procedure AGAIN, its invasive enough ONCE let alone 2 or 3 times, for not ensuring he could pee on his own before just sending him off carelessly, for not communicating and hyperfocusing on money for issues that arent even an issue night now and could be done later. blockages are difficult to address as is, but the way they went about it made it even worse. the vet told us to get him in right away for the reaction to the new medication, and we were firm that we are NOT paying this is their fault I'm amazed teddy was able to make it through the night, he's so incredibly strong
as much as i dont ever want to go back there im doing everything for him and we raced him there, they're going through all kinds of checks to make sure he's ok and also working on his peeing. he had a wet bowl movement before i got the call, which couldve been from the sudden change to his prescription diet, the new med, the situation or anything, but was so weak he couldnt even stand so it got all over him, i had to wash him off and that seemed to kind of kick him into moving again, not much but a lot more than i had seen all morning after becoming exhausted, almost like it switched him back on to keep fighting.
so far he's doing well his bp is only slightly high due to the stress of being there but hes inflamed which also is making the urine they can push out tinged with blood. they're monitoring him constantly in fact she (this is a different vet from the owner, ive had good experiences with her) said he's being held almost all the time by another staff member, she will be giving him a boost of antibiotics as an injection and a single anti inflammatory since he got his bloodwork done and he doesnt have any kidney or liver issues or anemia/anything else. they offered for me to stay with them there so i can be with him but i needed to get back to my other babies to make sure they dont stress more either, i have to keep them healthy too so im getting updates over the phone. hes eating there hopefully thatll give him a boost of energy because though they can bring him out and walk him around/play hes still very sleepy. he hasnt peed but his bladder isnt full either, i asked why since he was drinking like crazy and she said its likely because he's dribbling tiny amounts almost constantly, his blanket has some small spots (i noticed when he was home his peepee was wet a lot but no full pees) im going to be grabbing him again soon before they close and then taking him back first thing in the morning for her to check his bladder again, if its full and hard again she's putting a catheter in again. she's also giving me a prescription for a bladder relaxer thats non drowsy, but its a gamble what pharmacies have it. we still are firm we are not paying, i'm still so scared because if they DO try to ding us with the bill we will absolutely be out of donations to help, the last bill was $606, on top of that all the gas needed to even get there and back is crushing, and i have no idea what will happen but its not something i can even think about right now
idk how its going to go we're just taking this one step at a time, my anxiety has made me so sick i want this nightmare to be over with and him at home safe and sound.
again thank you all so much for your concerns for my boy, all the help, the donations, the kind words its incredible how many are wishing and working for his recovering ill update again and get to replies as well when i can
UPDATE
another update right now before i try to get to all the messages and replies
first off i know i keep saying this but thank you all so much i am truly at a loss for words how extremely generous kind and concerned you all are for this situation, i appreciate every bit of advice and well wishes more than you know, we would never be able to get this far and given him the help he needs to try and get rid of this without your help, i love you all and thank you, thank you, thank you a million times over, hopefully this is the very last hurdle we must overcome
when i got to the vet they brought him in without his crate so we could judge his behaviour. he was slightly better, a good bit more stable on his feet and eyes were a bit clearer, but hes still acting similar to last night. he's not himself at all, he's like a completely different cat right now aside from recognizing us. his perception is also way off, he's confused and looks like he's just looking right through you not at you like theres just something not right, he will also not stop meowing/yowling which mostly is due to pain (hes on pain killers but of course will hurt regardless. this is excessive though especially for a cat who never acted this way) they mentioned he was quiet when he was there, but that does make sense if he's in an environment he hates or feels unsafe in he's going to stay quiet.
they gave him an antidote to remove the effects of the lorazepam but it still seems to be in his system, if hes still this way tomorrow they'll give him another. being that his symptoms arent as extreme (the best way i can describe how he was moving last night was almost like distemper, he's not moving like that atm though thankfully!!) and now more on the lines of typical sedation side effects i can at least try and hope that they'll wear off and did no neurological damage and he can go back to being teddy again. with all the shit hes going through already he did not need to go through this too but he's so strong and working so hard to get better i cannot be more proud of him
aside from that, every single test they ran he passed with flying colours, he's extremely healthy in every other way. his urine colour was a little better later in the day, still not the way it should be but it is getting better, that alone could've even been from the reaction. i was also given a prescription for prazosin which ill hopefully be able to fill tomorrow, it wont work for at least 7 days but i want to get it started asap, anything to try and help
he ate a ton and drank at home, its just a matter of ignoring his meowing until he finally gives up and sleeps and hoping he can pee on his own, he's dribbling quite a bit for what its worth, hopefully the anti inflammatory will work its magic on him as he rests
please help me pay my kitties emergency vet bill!
ive never done this before but one of my cats just had to get an extremely sudden emergency procedure and i don't know what to do, my vet and i have reached out to a couple incredible programs here to help with the bill but one is less than half and the other hasn't replied back yet, i've already declined the blood work (CA$356) to lower the bill at the risk of possible underlying liver and kidney issues not being found but its still a monumental amount for us right now. i just feel so helpless
we had enough to pay the minimum deposit to get the procedure started in time thankfully, but we were already scraping by as it is and now we're in desperate need of funds to eat/pay rent/pay off any remainder of the bill. i am disabled without aid and have been unable to work/haven't worked since 2015 but am on track to hopefully start working pt this fall. i live with my mom who has 3-4 jobs including one seasonal job which needless to say is stressful and wearing her down. we unfortunately are stuck in the most expensive place to live in canada with the inability to save up to flee so the cycle is never ending.
this is Teddy, my typically very silly vocal happy boy who's not quite 2 yet, my comfort king, my little muffin who acts like a weighted blanket for me at night and eases my anxiety, his favourite toy is his pink unicorn poof, he loves car rides and he can shake paw!
he got a sudden urinary blockage last night with no straight answer as to why and progressively got worse as the night went on, i didnt sleep at all, i was panicking and bawling, naturally, and raced to the vet to get in as soon as the door opened. i assumed it was a uti which wouldn't have been as costly, but it turned out to be much more severe and life threatening. i never expected my usually extremely healthy boy to suddenly be at risk of that and im still trying to just process whats been happening
he needed to be sedated and given a catheter and some medication, the total bill came to CA$985.62, of which we were barely able to pay 500 of, and one program was able to donate 300 leaving a total of CA$185.62 for the bill. this, of course, leaves us scrambling for food and rent as well
i know there are a lot of fundraisers out there needing donations right now, and i really hate letting myself be so open and raw like this but even a dollar would help tremendously and i would be forever grateful for any help whatsoever, even a rb to signal boost is greatly appreciated <3
TLDR; my cat had a sudden life threatening issue and now we can't pay the full vet bill or pay for food/rent

UPDATE
sorry once again for the very late update, teddy has been requiring quite literally every second of my time right now but i can write when hes napping
teddy is home again, and he's really messed up on his meds. he's now also taking lorazepam on top of his antibiotics and gabapentin, coupled with another bout of sedation he's extremely high right now. i was not told taking these two would increase side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, confusion ect he's completely fucked up right now. they also didnt tell me the side effects of this new med, one being vocalization which is horrible to hear esp when you dont know why its happening, the only way to stop him meowing sometimes is to hold him like a baby and sing as i walk up and down the hall. i had to literally google all these side effects and interactions myself
he is drinking lots, eating lots but he has not peed yet again. im trying to stay so positive right now, maybe its because he's so fucked up on meds, maybe he just needs some time, i have no idea. hes trying, not straining, but nothings coming out yet, he did poop however so in theory he does have control over his muscles enough back there which should mean he can pee, and yet...
im so exhausted, but im also EXTREMELY pissed off now. i am done with this vet, i never even got a call today for reassurance until late, i had to call three times to ask about him and was only able to get small updates from the other staff bc the vet was in surgeries, understandable of course surgeries are top priority, but he or one of the staff could've at least called in the am like i was expecting. i didn't receive a call until 4:30 as i was walking out the door to go there
they removed the catheter before calling me, i said i would've liked to keep it in for as long as possible yesterday but it was in for less than 24 hours again (first time it was in for less than 12) and they didn't check if he could go on his own afterwards afaik. it seemed like they were just shrugging me off, i had to ask all the questions that really should've been explained by them first I had to be the one to even ask if this new medication could even be TAKEN with his other ones. i had to ask if he was given his meds this morning (he wasnt last night because 'he was still very groggy from the anaesthesia' which im sure is code for 'place is closed time to go home' i hope his pain medication stayed in his system enough to last overnight) something didnt feel right yesterday when i stood my ground to them, it really feels like the vet wants to wipe his hands clean and move on like he knew i wouldnt be giving them more money for surprise additions (which mind you, the new medication was a surprise and never spoken about. his first dose of it was at 9am, they had ample time to call me beforehand and explain he would be taking it)
when the vet finally called he also mentioned randomly that he has a minor heart murmur likely from birth, except i know for a fact he's never had one he's been checked over multiple times since birth and has always had a super clean bill of health. i asked if it could be caused by the blockage but he said its unrelated and then said he wanted to xray or ultrasound to check right then and it would be 850-900+$ with adding on a bunch of words as if to scare me. of course i dont want my boy to be ill but all this happening and knowing that im already struggling to pay just feels like a way to milk more money from me. of course a check would need to be done but i would've appreciated an 'in the future we will want to check this' and not 'he can collapse' when im already dealing with teddy being on deaths door. not to mention having him be sedated again i can't imagine being good at all for him. the way it was gone about feels wrong and i was a wreck until i talked to my mom about it and she reassured me. scouring studies i did in fact find its relatively common for murmurs to happen with acute urinary blockage in cats, so saying it was absolutely unrelated further adds to my mistrust. to add on even more, i also know for a fact ultrasounds for cats are nowhere NEAR 900 dollars
i don't know how teddy is going to hold up tonight, he's not all there from the drugs and hes not peeing. im so broken im numb, but im angry now. im going to do the absolute best i can for him, im calling around other vets tomorrow to see what can be done, im going to get second opinions and ask if what this vet did was as wrong as i think it is. i am preparing for the worst but working hard for the best and i am never going back to that place, they've taken thousands of dollars from us in the last two years with most of it from just this weekend and for what? just to be pushed aside?
please everyone keep teddy in your thoughts and hope he can somehow recover from this, hope he can make it through the night and finally pee, he can pee on whatever he wants i dont even care i just want him back to normal
i still haven't gotten to talk to my vet today, he's been in surgery for hours (im assuming its emerg? he'll be calling once hes free) but ive talked to the staff a few times for updates on teddy
hes resting, doing well, he has his catheter in still and its steadily dribbling, he wouldnt eat but thats not abnormal for him at the vet - he didnt eat when he got neutered either and was there or the whole day but he did eat yesterday. i specifically asked about his hydration bc i was concerned, it being so long in there and everything and knowing dehydration can cause crystal flare ups, and she confirmed he's drinking on his own!! he also was given something to hydrate him before the procedure (im so sorry i dont know the name, i'll see the name on the bill when i get there, a cube or something?)
ill be going there in about an hour and a bit and update when i can!
just a suggestion for next time, but what really helped me with vet bills was finding a non-profit clinic, so if one exists near you it could be worth checking out in the future for pricier procedures (and i think npos will often do vaccinations for free or very cheap). i can’t speak for the quality of care of whichever npo you find of course but in my personal experience my cats received more attentive care and i was treated with more respect and informed more clearly at the npo clinic.
thank you for the help! I know of one npo clinic though its quite a bit of a drive, but their prices vary greatly and don't do quotes over the phone so i cant judge how big a difference it is. i do know they do some pretty big discounts on certain things every month though, i dont know what the price would be but i assume less than what id pay for my current vet. im going to do everything i can to research other vets though, both npo and normal ones, and really go about finding the perfect one for our needs!
Hello, regarding your cat, I wasn't able to read everything this is kinda rushed because I've had a long day, but do you need more money at the moment?
Also I'm a vet but like, in France, so I'm always shocked at the prices (in my area this kind of emergency would amount to like, around 300€, maybe 500€ if there's a repeat)!
Also, on a medical standpoint, were the vets able to know the origin of the blockage? Was it urinary stones, or stress? In my experience this kind of blockage has a tendency to become chronic in some cases if proper precautions are not taken! I wouldn't mind giving advice if you want, you can PM me I'll do my best to help and translate as accurately as possible.
Hi thank you so much for your concern, and I hope you're able to relax now! At the moment I have no idea if I need more money, its up in the air what the cost will be when i get there later today, I've still yet to even talk to my vet for a full update as he's been in and out of surgeries today but thank you so so much for asking!!! ❤️ I'll try and keep the main post as updated as possible once I get any news about costs or anything
But yeah the pricing is absolutely horrible here, theres no regulation and the cost of living is already debilitating enough, people who try save up funds for their pets have it wiped out from even the simplest vistis (their annual vaccinations are about $300, its hard to save much with that hit every year)
As for the cause, we aren't sure. Its unlikely to be stress related as hes an extremely chill and happy cat, nothing has changed with his lifestyle, his brother doesn't stress him out and all my animals are very close and loving to one another. The house usually is super quiet and relaxed too, him running around playing is usually the most noise the house gets! I can't think of a single time before this he was ever stressed aside from the normal wariness of being at the vet for vaccines/when he got neutered. Its also unlikely its from dehydration bc he's very good at drinking (he likes to have the tap water whenever i go into the bathroom, but he also happily drinks from any of the bowls around the house) and i feed them wet food mixed with some dry daily.
They didn't find any stones but the blockage was caused by struvite crystals, in fact they were able to pull one blockage out that was a milky mucousy stringy glob before his first catheter was put in. I also pulled 3 or 4 small ones the day before yesterday after noticing he was blocked and trying to do anything in my power to dispel them since I had no means to get him the help he needed then. His urinalysis came back positive for struvite but also mentioned the amount was 'few', he had no bacteria present and his ph was 6.5, theres maybe a chance he had a uti and dispelled the bacteria before they got a sample? Though I didnt notice any signs before that he was having issues. The lab notes mention the results fit with FLUTD/idiopathic cystitis but I really have no clue how or why, it was brought on so suddenly and he ate the exact same things as his brother who's fine (i will be swapping to a preventative food for his brother though because I'm now just petrified of it happening to him too) I suppose theres a chance its just genetic or random :/
Thank you for your help though, I'll definitely take you up on your offer and pm you! I have some questions I'd really like some advice on from a different vet
i have quite a few anons in my inbox and replies i havent gotten to answering yet but they're all essentially mentioning the same thing or similar things so ill answer as a lump post instead!
sadly because of my disability im 100% dependant on my mom atm which means loans/the like aren't up to me and not likely to happen for various reasons, but i do appreciate all the help and the links that have been sent my way! you've all been so helpful im so thankful that so many care enough to help whether it be reblogs, helpful links, donations, well wishes, everything ❤️
pls also make sure to ask your vet for an estimate before they do anything, the fact that they add stuff on without telling you is extremely sketchy
i did! i probably sounded pretty demanding but i was firm with them about everything and they walked me through every portion of the estimate so far, of course tomorrows additions remain to be seen but i do think i drilled it into their heads a bit to be a lot more vocal of pricing and wait on my ok for anything. but i do agree its sketchy, they dont include the second+ days worth of fees even though they know they're adding them on, they aren't unexpected things they're recheck fees and medicine like you KNOW im gonna need these so add them on before instead of surprising me??? im not psychic you tell me one price i assume thats it and not 1/2/300+ dollars more the next day 🙄
the sad thing is they are a very good clinic aside from that, i really like all the staff and they work with charities i support and have used, so on one hand im going to be doing some research into vets with payment plans for emergency visits nearby, but on the other i still do like this vet for basic checkups and vaccines
