Cut  the  chase?  Kids  these  days  won't  even  let  an  ominous  entity  of  shadows  try  to  be  enigmatic  about  its  motifs  anymore.  Where  was  the  appreciation  for  soaking  up  in  total  unease  before  an  unknown  creature  that  could  be  either  friend  or  foe  after  reading  an  encyclopedia-entry  that  could  very  well  make  him  both?

The  Darkrai's  eye  stayed  half-shut  but  there  was  a  slight  loss  of  focus  on  her,  the  narrow  white  pupil  that  shone  in  the  dark  tracking  the  Miraidon's  movements  instead.  "...DEPENDS  ON  YOUR  MYSTERIOUS  FRIEND  HERE.  I  HAVE  NO  INTENT  TO  HARM  YOU  AS  LONG  AS  THEY  KEEP  THEIR  CLAWS  TO  THEMSELVES.  "  The  Iron  Serpent's  technological  appearance  made  it  somewhat  difficult  to  discern  its  actual  mood.  A  display-plate  for  face  and  LED-like  lights  shifting  in  shape  were  unlike  anything  he'd  ever  seen  before.  If  it  weren't  for  the  rest  of  its  movement  being  surprisingly  fluid  and  lifelike  and  the  fear  he  could  sense,  he  would've  doubted  if  it  were  a  Pokémon  at  all.

"WHAT  SAY  YOU  I  LEAD  YOU  SOMEWHERE  QUIETER  TO  TALK?  UNLESS  YOU  ENJOY  THE  ATTENTION."  Hotel  Z  came  to  mind...  the  place  hardly  had  any  visitors  and  he  knew  a  shortcut  there  if  this  offer  was  entertained.  If.  If  not,  well,  he  wasn't  the  one  almost  getting  run  over.

Well... it's not like she expected him to outright say that he was an evil monster who wanted to eat her dreams, specifically, or anything like that. Again, Fresa's weight shifted as she gave Miri a puzzled look, recieving a similar one in response.

"...It doesn't like to fight.", she still tried to seem brave, bringing both hands behind her back "Unless I'm in danger, anyway.

So, uhm. We're cool, I guess.."

Which makes the other's following request... way less potentially intimidating than it should be. She knows better than following strangers in dark alleys, but she didn't really have anything to truly be worried about, right?

...right. Wouldn't be the first time she'd have to face a particularly powerful Pokèmon in case something went wrong. Couldn't be harder than the goddamn turtle.

"So, uhm. Lead the way, I guess?"

softly bonks her on the head with a canned coffee, "the machine gave me two. it must be your lucky day. or maybe it's just defective..." he shrugs, "anyway, here."

Oh, thank Arceus for Larry, coming just in time! Fresa didn't even hear him coming, as focused as she was on her studies ( or her attempts at understanding a single line in her languages book ), so after jumping a bit on the spot and looking up she takes a good couple of seconds to understand what she's being offered... to which she smiles widely.

"i consider it very lucky, actually!

In  response  to  her  advance,  he  shifted  further  back  into  the  night's  cloak.  Considering  her  company's  anxious  state,  it  was  best  to  keep  his  distance  until  he  had  at  least  a  vague  answer  of  his  own  for  who  this  trainer  and  her  bizarre  Pokemon  were.  Though  he  couldn't  help  teasing  Fresa  just  a  little,  with  how  startled  she  had  reacted  to  his  presence  and  words...  it  was  a  way  to  test  the  waters  for  her  reaction  too.  "DIDN'T  I  ALREADY  SAY?  A  SPECTATOR.  CALL  ME  WHAT  YOU  WANT.  LIKE  YOU,  I'VE  BEEN  DRAWN  TO  HERE  FROM  AFAR  TO  WITNESS  THE  BIZARRE  EVENTS  HERE.  THAT  MAKES  US  BOTH  STRANGERS  TO  THIS  PLACE."

The  shadow  canted  his  head  to  the  side,  gave  them  a  lazy  half-lidded  look  over  and  then  trailed  off  with  the  rest  of  his  answer.  "...IF  YOU  ASK  WHAT  I  AM...  DON'T  YOU  HAVE  THAT  DEX-GIZMO  TO  TELL  YOU  THAT?"  Of  course  he  knew  that  some  types  of  Pokédex  couldn't  scan  him  at  all.  Some  models  he  could  even  interfere  with.  Would  be  nice  to  get  it  straight  from  him?  But  he  was  in  a  mood  to  be  needlessly  cryptic.

The creature slithers back in the shadows, and Fresa stops on her tracks once more, wondering if she should've avoided approaching him to begin with. Surprisingly, she finds herself frowning slightly at his assumption. The temptation to explain that she didn't even know about battle royales, weird crystals or much, if not anything, about Megaevolution to begin with is there, but she eventually decided to keep it for herself.

He doesn't need to know about her whole backstory.

"...right!"

And, on the contray, he seemed to want her to know his, without spilling the beans himself. Just mentioning the RotomPhone made it fly in front of her, taking a picture of the darkness in front of it and uploaded it on the Dex.

"...it sure is-- taking some time loading, tonight, huh--

...Darkrai?"

Such slow loading meant that she was right, this wasn't an everyday Pokèmon at all! And the short entry that followed the registration, one that alluded to his powers, made her understand why Miri felt so tense. Didn't seem so different from a certain turtle she had the pleasure to meet, in the past.

Something-something, if she had a nickle for everytime a Pokèmon with the power of making people dream took an interest in her...!

"Well, uhm... you were right. It sure did tell me something." A beat. "...let's cut to the chase. am I in danger, or are we cool?"

Cue a low, robotic grumble from Miri. Now that she thinks about it, the only time she saw it jump into action was against the Paradise Protection Protocol and Terapagos... and for the rest, it just threw a handful of Terablasts here and there when things were getting a little too dangerous for the rest of the Team to handle.

"So, like. Either it has to deal with some world-ending issue, or it's lazy-- ow!"

Okay. She kind of deserved that headbump.
