UNDISCLOSED LOCATION NEAR POINT OMEN, OCEAN DEPTHS - MIDNIGHT
A place of buried secrets and total darkness. The shadow's claws trace architecture out of this world, a single claw scratching the bizarre masonry of this sunken whilst he hovered towards the structure's center. The ruins pulsed with power of a kind- his kind, the veil to the dream world was exceedingly brittle here, tainted deeply by nightmares that would stop any mortal's breath in their throat and drive them mad, much like the dome of nightmares in Levincia did. The depth of it meant nothing much could reach here from the outside, most corporeal living beings were crushed by the ocean pressure as a natural deterrent.
At the heart of it, an altar-like plateau awaited him, encircled by claw-like stonework that reached for the center. Innumerable lunar cycles ago, it's where he first connected through the dream world to the souls that rose back to life from his own shadow. The properties of this place allowed him to reach further into nightmares of others than any other place and thankfully, no other Darkrai had ever claimed it. Judging by its age, it must have been built in honor of the First - by who, he could not say, the architecture didn't even seem human. Maybe the First built it for themselves with their own powers? Only now to be inherited by their descendant and successor.
A marvel that suited his needs. The shades emerged at the beckon of their master and the Darkrai gives each a glance and address.
"HONEDGE. YOU ARE RELIEVED OF YOUR DUTY. I WILL SET YOU FREE NOW." The dull eye of the sharp blade began to crack and its form dispersed into threads of pure darkness that returned to the nightmare's clawed hand. Only a purple light of a soul remained, dimming away into the inbetween of dimensions from which the reapers beckoned it.
Then the other spawn drew his attention, though with a bit of a stern glare. "PAWNIARD... YOU DID NOT EVEN DO ANYTHING. IF IT WEREN'T FOR YOUR EXTRA WEIGHT IN MY SHADOW, I WOULD HAVE FORGOTTEN YOU WERE WITH ME AT ALL. STILL, I KEEP MY WORD. YOU'RE FREE. I DON'T WANT YOU AROUND ME ANY LONGER ANYWAY. BE GONE, YOU PARASITE." Much less graceful than his farewell from the sword he could not fix, he simply opened a portal of Phantom Force beneath the little bladed creature and let it be plummet into it, to be released in another adjacent dimension to this one.
Now, finally, all that was left is what he truly returned here for.
Beyond the plateau, deeper in the bowels of the ruins where he'd also hidden some of his ancient 'belongings', he would add another memento to the pile of engraved plates, keepsakes and the one or other jewel and crown taken from royalty lost to history by his hands. Compared to them, the recent addition was truly negligible in worth.
"AND YOU... OBLIVION CLAIM YOU, WHO ARROGANTLY BELIEVED YOU COULD BRING MORE TERROR TO THE WORLD THAN I. I WON'T GRANT YOU THE MERCY OF DYING. ROT IN THE LIMBO FROM WHICH YOU TRIED TO RULE." The capsule-enclosed Pokéball of Malamar emerged from his palm, not even granted a glance before simply being dropped in the pile of cursed relics of old.
Relief didn't reach him quite yet. Not until he left the sunken, forbidden and undiscovered city of horrors behind and returned to the volatile surface of the raging sea.
At last it was over. The world was rid of one of the first of these.
---He set his cursed eye on the future.
