The Cool Ambiance of Metro Diner

Over the summer I treated my friends to the Metro Diner. We loved Midnight Diner in downtown Charlotte but couldn't see ourselves driving all the way into town just to eat. I had to find another place with a similar vibe.

I stumbled upon Metro Diner after doing a quick Google search. While Metro and Midnight do share the name diner, they aren't too much a like. This is not a bad thing however. They both have a similar menu and that's it, everything else is different.

Each has its own twist to a dish. And both have enough on the menu to make sure there is something there for everyone. This is great because my kids are picky. They aren't shy on portion size either, which fantastic!! Check out the food.

Holler and Dash...gone in a dash?

My good friend from trucking school decided to meet up with me for breakfast. I love eating with Alexis because like me she loves food. So when we went to the local holler and dash to try something new we were both surprised. I was looking for something to post here. I wanted it to be authentic to Charlotte and outside of my comfort zone.

Biscuits....what can I say. I do not like biscuits. I don't know if it's because I've had my share of dry almost choke worthy biscuits or if I just literally hate them. So when I saw the menu and saw biscuits everywhere I was ready to hightail it out the door. Almost every dish featured a biscuit!!! However, I've never been one to back down from a challenge.

The whole reason I had driven all the way across town was to try one dish that caught my eye. It's was only after the server brought out eggs that I had to take a second look at the menu.

If you want southern food, southern food is what you'll get

I've heard so much about Jomars around the circuit at work that it had become an urban myth. It was like a tale I'd heard but never quite sure it actually existed. One of coworkers, I'm told, loves this place. So when I was driving through Lancaster SC looking for something to try I stumbled across it, Jomars. Right off of the exit to Myrtle Beach it is nestled in it's little corner. Make no mistake though, this isn't a tiny restaurant. In fact it seemed to be ever expanding.

If you like good southern cooking similar to your grandma's or a good Sunday style meal, Jomars is it. I walked inside to be surprised by it's touch of old Hollywood decor and mid century modern revival architecture. This place had history, the food kind. Along the walls were sprinkles of hot rods and restored classics photographed with beautiful detail. There were autographed pictures of baseball players and the famous Clark Gable. In the side dining area were old posters and advertisements of a regal era. Check out the pictures.

Work led me to my favorite country town

Alright....for the first post it isn't NC but I could resist the urge. I love Rock Hill SC. It's so rich in culture and so pretty. It's also experiencing some sort of organic boom of entrepreneurship. Who doesn't look genuine culture and flair?

Well today I was dropped right in the midst of it and had the pleasure of sipping the sweet delights of KNOWLEDGE PERK!! Check out the pictures.
