can we play touys together?
they’re banning cis ppl from sports after an investigation revealed they were annoying
[as if this is not a normal and natural human thing to want] yeah i just really want to connect with people for some reason. Like some weird loser freak
it’s been a few days and he loves it
suchhh a relief to spend time with other insane people. yes we are fucked in the head. we are both going to make it. i love you
"After the Carnival" in Rio de Janeiro, photograph by Alain Draeger, 1983
dogs love using their horizontal nature to stand in front of you
Fun fact: I was in a house with my boss and her son with whom I was about to go on a date (long story) and they have Great Pyrenees. BIG dog. One of them figures out right quick that I'm a sucker and keeps standing in front of me, using his Large Horizontal Nature to block the door. The guy and my boss start tugging him away, chastising him, and I say, "No, no - watch this."
I slowly rotate. The dog, anticipating forward motion, walks around to block me. I step backwards through the door and the dog is left standing, shocked at my escape. They (dog owners) had apparently never thought of that.
Defy the horizontal nature. Rotate.
was "debating" another trans guy the other night because he responded to one of my posts arguing that trans men hold no privilege over trans women, i had answers for everything he asked, he kept trying to move goalposts and put words in my mouth while ignoring the answers i had for him, it is frustrating, and in the end he said something like "we're arranging deck chairs on the titanic" which i disagree with too, this idea that acknowledging how trans women are in immediate danger before we will be targeted is "infighting" is setting us back though because these guys are not at all prepared to protect or defend trans women or fight back on their behalf and if it comes down to it yeah we might all be fucked because these guys are too busy arguing about "men's rights"
he was bringing up trans men who don't pursue medical transition too, but like, even if you are perceived as a cis woman you still have it easier than trans women, even if you don't necessarily benefit from male privilege because you haven't transitioned you still benefit from the fact that people will believe and trust you over a trans woman
we are losing the plot because if you genuinely look into "what about trans men who don't transition? how do they have privilege over trans women if people think they're cis women?" the person asking that is completely overlooking the fact that cis women also have it easier than trans women
I think there's something else insidious there. Because the implication is that cis women aren't privileged over trans women, likely because we're "male" at best, and "basically men" in most cases.
The other thing that's insane making about this whole discussion is that it just ignores the central idea of transmisogyny; that trans women aren't just regendered as men by society, but that we are instead made abject and disgusting gender freaks. This is, hopefully obviously, worse than being perceived as a cis woman (confused or otherwise), especially because we are perceived as both monstrous and other, and inherently sexual objects for others. That's not unique, cis women and trans men who have been regendered as "women" are also seen as sex objects. But there's a difference between being seen as a lesser category of person who is a sex object, and being seen as subhuman who is a sex object.
Ugh, even worse is when they send a one-sentence response in the subject line of the email!!! WITH NOTHING IN THE BODY!!!!
hot take i think that a website being able to ban users for "no reason at all" is a very bad thing, all websites should be able to prove that a user has broken their guidelines or terms of service in order to ban them
users who get banned should be told WHY they're banned and given an opportunity to talk to a person when appealing their ban, automated "nah ur still banned" replies shouldn't be allowed on any website.
a user broke a guideline? which ones? and which post/reply/message/ask broke them?
a post is mass reported? sure thing a temporary auto ban is fine BUT ONLY IF A HUMAN REVIEWER THEN LOOKS AT IT.
a post is reported, flagged, appealed, and has the flag removed? that post should no longer be able to have that flag re-applied. because a human looked at it and decided it was fine.
a user submits multiple reports that all turn out to be false? ban that user for abusing the reporting system.
all of this seems so simple but it's just ?? not happening
some kind of revolution happening on tumblr
I’m seeing a bunch of posts that make me think most USAmericans don’t know about The No Surprises Act.
It was passed in 2021 (thank you Biden) and essentially states that if you don’t have insurance or your insurance doesn’t cover a service you need (or want) you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of care. (If your insurance does cover the service, you should be able to estimate the cost of care based on your deductible and co-pay.)
As a healthcare provider who does not accept any insurance, I am very careful to not violate The No Surprises Act. Why? Because for every penny more than $400 that the Good Faith Estimate was “off” (or if it wasn’t provided), you are entitled to a refund for that amount.
Y’all. Ask for a Good Faith Estimate. Get it in writing. Compare it to what you are paying. If you are not provided an estimate or if it’s wrong by more than $400, demand a refund.
I’m reforging this for the second time in five minutes because I needed to add that part of this is also about what your health insurance provider is required to do. They’re required to tell you what your out of pocket cost will be. If you contact them and they say actually they don’t know but your copay is X%, you can ask them to call the provider and get the codes they plan to use to bill for your services. If the provider is in network they’ll have negotiated rates in place so the insurer will know exactly how much you can be charged for that service and then they have to tell you. No surprise huge medical bills even if you are insured.
Adding onto this. If you have a surgical procedure that involves anesthesia, the No Surprises Act also accounts here. Most anesthesia companies/providers are OON (out of network) with most, if not all insurances. If your service is performed in an in-network facility, they are REQUIRED to bill as in-network due to this law.
This alongside demanding an itemized bill for any and all hospital stays, surgeries, and procedures, including the outpatient ones.
