depression starts as that relatable sadness, you might find yourself looking at all those memes about feeling worthless and lonely and not good enough, but after years and years and years of it that's not how it works anymore. It gets so much deeper in your brain, your heart, your body. So deep there are no words to describe it. If you're very lucky you might catch a glimpse of the feeling when reading a poem, a book, a note. When you listen to a song or movie or soft humming. Relatableness gets lost so soon and you end up with a layer of depression so much deeper than you ever could have imagined. Chronic depression that has rooted itself deep in your chest, that has become a part of your being even if you don't always feel it. It's the heavy bag you carry around everywhere, which you've been doing so long you don't feel the weight anymore. It's a wave of emptiness for no apparent reason and the constant exhaustion that lies far deep beneath the surface.
