Assorted story sketches in honor of finally finishing ch 5 of "Do You Still Want It?" First time drawing The Goat; Rocky (he’s doing the airplane bit to cheer Simon up.) I should also note: Rocky in this case would find humans eating fascinating in the same way humans find pet snakes eating rats fascinating.

A few quick Iron Lung drawings, headcanon-y/ backstory stuff I just wanted to get out of my head. I write about it in my (Bloodymary) fic, but if you don’t want to read all that it’s just below the cut lol.

Simon’s sword is based off of executioner’s swords and the spear is inspired by fishing spears. He’s also wearing a helmet underneath the hood.

Cropped+backstory underneath (Should I include a warning that it’s dark? It’s on theme for apocalyptic scenarios so be warned)

I was thinking a lot about how Simon got his “Butcher” nickname and my own little spin on it was; what if during the most desperate times in Eden they appointed a “Deathsman” or executioner that culled the weakest among them. Simon may not have been the first or last, but he was one for a while. It was seen as dirty business, despite being deemed necessary to sustain their gardens and livelihood.

This bad rep earns Simon the unofficial title of “The Butcher”. Plus, it makes the later fight against Eden all the more personal when they poison the trees and soil of Eden. It was the breaking point after the years of sacrifices he and the others had to endure. The violence, of course, gets out of hand.

Bonus: I don’t think people would use guns in the Iron Lung Universe. Bullets and maintenance eat up too many resources. +firing a gun in a pressurized can is a bad bad idea.

Hello! I’ve just finished Ch4, the longest yet in this story- the plot is thickening and I seriously need to consider making a more complex roadmap. Simon drops quite a bit of lore this chapter so...tune on in :]

I have returned with a Ch3 update and comic page. I’m justifying the effort put into this project as low stakes practice on general writing/art stuff haha. Here’s a sentimental scene on the beach, Simon’s hair is a supporting actor.
