Writing Practice
So.. Starting with the backstory. I’ve always enjoyed reading, ever since I was little and my mom read for me. Then when I got a little older, 10 years +, I started to write my own version of the stories I read.
Kinda embarrassing, but I once wrote my own version of Twilight. It was 35 pages long. It may not seem much, but for an 11-year-old girl, it was...
Anyways, since then, I’ve started writing many stories, but never finished one. So now, soon 19-year-old, I want to work on my writing skills.
I've heard so many times that to become a good writer, you have to practice. That is what I'm doing now.
Went to Pinterest, searched "Writing Prompts" and began searching. Found two pins(see above) who caught my attention, and wanted to combine them.
Please just read and if you want to, let me know what you think...
I may continue this “story”...
He watched her stare at the television. Her favourite show was showing. He could never understand how it was so exciting to view all the drama. Yet, he understood that some parts of her would always be a mystery to him.
She looked so lovely in the dim light from the candles, her skin was glowing. Her hair looked like fire, gathered in a messy braid. Some strands had turned grey, symboling how long they used to find each other this time. The hot steam from the dinner made the whole kitchen smell delicious. "How did the food taste, love?" He only got a quick nod as an answer, she was too busy eating.
He looked at her through the bathroom mirror. Inspected the curves on her body under the thin layer of silk. She caught him and returned the playful smile. "Never one to keep your eyes to yourself, eh?" She teased.
They laid tangled together under the soft duvet. His hand stroking her back, and she, playing with his hair. His hair was all grey now, an almost exact match to his silver eyes. A small breeze flowing through their room, reminding them that autumn was just around the corner. Even though the days are warm, he still lit the fireplace every night, knowing it made her happy.
Bright light woke him up. He glanced at the fireplace, it was only one small, dying flame left. What gained his attention was the huge flames all over the room. He got a quick glance out the window only to see more flames. There was no way out. He thought about it for a second, they would probably not survive trying to escape either. He did not want a death like that. The best would be to go while they both were happy. He laid down again, his arms around her. He kissed her brow as the world around them burned.
"See you in the next life, my love," He whispered.
