So begins another miserable year at Hogwarts. It’s not the school that’s the problem. Nor the teachers, nor the classes. No. Just a boy. Just one, stupid, blonde haired boy who can’t seem to leave me be. And God, I hope he never does.
I took a deep breath, inhaling the familiar smell of the Hogwarts Express’ smoke coming from the engine. I grabbed my trunk and stepped onto the train, starting my 6th year at the school of witchcraft and wizardry. I waved to a few people whom I knew from last year, stopping in the hall every once in a while for a brief conversation before finding an empty compartment.
Once I was inside, I pushed my trunk onto one of the shelves above the booths, quickly turning to lock the compartment door. But I was too late. My wrist had been grabbed and I was uncomfortably close to a body.
“Trying to lock me out are we?” The voice was dripping with evil.
“Hello Draco.” I spat, yanking my wrist from his grip. He smiled, and glanced at the booth to his left.
“That seat taken?” He asked simply. I just stared at him, practically seething. He shrugged, and turned back to the door, locking it and pulling the curtains down, blocking the two of us from anyone’s view. I opted to sit as far away from him as possible, sitting on the booth opposite him and closer to the train window. We sat in silence, neither comfortable nor uncomfortable. But I felt his eyes wandering my body constantly.
“You ready for this year?” He asked simply.
“Why can’t you leave me alone?” I asked, staring out the window. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on the tops of his thighs and folding his hands together.
“Why do you want me to? I haven’t done anything to you.” He stated.
“I didn’t say you did. You make me uncomfortable.” I told him. He scoffed.
“Why’s that?” He asked.
“Because you won’t stop following me around.” I bit back, looking over at him now. He rolled his eyes and smiled, leaning back and opening his legs. I laughed in disgust and looked back out the window, hoping he didn’t see the light blush sneaking its way onto my cheeks.
“I follow you cause I like you.” He stated.
“Well I hate you so.” I said, looking over at him again. He shrugged.
“Fine by me.” He replied, standing up and moving to sit next to me. I pressed myself against the wall of the train as much as I could. Draco sat, leaning forward to try and meet my gaze.
“Look at me.” He demanded. My heart fluttered at his words, but I remained strong, keeping my gaze pinned on the sky outside the train. Suddenly, I felt his hand grab my chin gently, pulling it so I would meet his gaze. “There you are.” He said sweetly. I blinked slowly, my eyes beginning to water at the feeling of my heart pounding in my chest. His hand moved slowly from my chin and across my right cheek, resting on the back of my neck under my hair. My eyes darted back and forth between his as his thumb stroked my cheek softly.
“What are you doing?” I asked, leaning into his touch. My head was screaming at me to move. To get up. To rip his hand away. But something else inside was screaming louder, keeping me still. Draco didn’t answer, his other hand moving across the top of my left thigh. He then slowly began to lean forward, stopping just inches away from my face.
“If you hate me so much,” he whispered, his eyes on my lips. “Why haven’t you stopped me yet?” Then his eyes met mine.
“I don’t,“ I choked as his hand that was on my thigh grabbed my left hip and pushed, turning my body to the point where both of my legs were on top of his.
“Stop me.” He said, his nose barely grazing my own. He moved the hand that was on my neck down to the side of my right thigh now, using his left hand to grab my left leg, wrapping it around his waist and pushing me against the wall of the train.
“Stop me.” He repeated, placing a kiss on the corner of my mouth.
“Draco..” I whined. He smiled in response and met my gaze again, grabbing my hands in his and holding them in between our bodies.
“That’s what I thought.” He said, his lips finally meeting mine in a heated kiss of tongue and teeth.
Yep. I hate him. Right? Draco held my wrists in his left hand while his right wandered down to my waist, running his finger along the waistband of my skirt. I quickly ripped one of my hands from his grasp and wrapped my fingers around his right wrist.
“Are you crazy?” I asked in between kisses. He raised his eyebrows in surprise, looking down between us.
“Clearly.” He answered, leaning forward again and pressing his lips to the corner of my mouth, trailing kisses down my cheek and to my neck. I sighed at the feeling, wrapping my hands around his neck, pulling him closer. He straightened up a bit, causing me to scoot more onto his lap.
“Draco, please,” I began to say, closing my eyes as his tongue traced beautiful patterns onto the skin of my neck.
“Please what, my love.” He whispered. I tried desperately to get away from him. Not physically though. I wanted his friendship, his love. Mentally I wanted him in every way and that’s what I was afraid of. I melted into him, allowing his hands and lips to roam wherever they so pleased.
“Please,” I swallowed the lump in my throat. “Don’t stop.” I said softly. I heard him chuckle and he pulled himself off of my neck, pressing his nose to mine.
“I knew you loved me.” He teased, pressing a gentle kiss to my lips. His sudden gentleness made me feel loved. It made me feel like he wasn’t playing whatever game he had been playing with me for the last six years.
“I’m starting to.” I said with a small smile. Just as Draco was about to kiss me again, we heard the door of the compartment unlocking. Draco scrambled away from me, practically jumping to the booth on the other side. I sat up, pushing myself off of the wall and leaning against the booth, straightening out my skirt. The door opened and there stood Hermione Granger.
“Granger, you foul,” Draco started to say.
“Quiet you.” I spat out. Draco looked at me with pitiful eyes, like a dog who’d just been caught chewing on the couch. Hermione looked at him in disgust and then at me with confusion.
“Are you alright?” She asked, tilting her head to the side. “Did he lock you in here? Do you need me to do something about this?” She pointed at Draco. I smirked at her tone of voice but shook my head.
“He did, but I believe I can handle it myself, thank you.” I replied, giving Draco a knowing look. He smirked a bit and looked down at his lap. Hermione nodded once and then closed the compartment door, leaving Draco and I in awkward silence. After a moment I spoke up.
“That was close.” I said.
“Too close.” He bit back, reaching out to move the curtain, looking out one of the windows. “At some point, you and I will go to the Room of Requirement.” I scoffed.
“Oh yeah?” I asked.
“We will. Trust me.” He said, standing up and sitting next to me again.
“So what are we then?” I asked, looking over at him. He smirked.
“I’d say after that whole ordeal you have no choice but to be my girlfriend.” He said, bumping my shoulder with his. “If that’s what you want.” I smiled at him, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to his right cheek.
“Yeah, I’d like that.” I told him.
