I picked up the first War Journal series on your rec, and even in the first few issues I'm really enjoying how Frank is having a Day (and a half) and each time we cut back to Micro he's sitting at the same desk reading the same book of Frost poems

later on there's a multi-issue c-plot about micro programming and selling a tank arcade game while frank sulks that he's not getting 100% of the attention he feels he deserves.

not yet, i'm so far from a comic shop these days that any of the store-only red band releases are strictly TPBs for me.

last lines also revived a definite canonical memory of micro driving his whingy muscle-trade deluxe to the dentist like a genial jewish sugar daddy, but it also made me think of a seperate time where he's got his hands crammed into frank's mouth like a vet inspecting a dog and i can't remember if that one actually is canon or i've reached a point where i'm just creating false memories out of General Concepts That Give Me A Halfer.

Question: I know you like Fallout but were there any other games youre into/are playing?

counting or not counting the embarrassing amount of hours i've put into gooner shooter marvel rivals in the past few months? i am a *cough* year-old man and mostly have the tastes of such: RTS games like company of heroes and age of empires, i still have faith in the battlefield franchise and its playerbase of 38-56 year-old fathers. i wish saints row was still around. metal gear rising revengance is the best metal gear game. dave the diver got me in a chokehold for six months straight a couple of years back. i'll buy a switch 2 when they release a new animal crossing. and so on and so forth.

Hi, im barely dipping my toes into the comics right now and so far I have read very little in terms of punisher and really dont know where to go from here. I wasnt sure who to ask but I figured if there's anybody to ask its probably you, so, would you be willing to share some recommendations with the masses?

are you reading physical or digital? it's easier to go physical with punisher comics because a lot of them haven't been digitised, or they're digitised but not available on unlimited, or they got digitised early and haven't survived the awful monopolistic state of digital distribution in the big 26. any decent library network should have the physical collections, or you can pick them up secondhand on ebay for cheap. all of the omnibus editions are still in print but like all marvel collections they're obscenely expensive new.

this omnibus is probably the easiest entry point to the golden age of punisher comics, aka the microchip/battlevan/gogo boots/tactical himbo era. if you like it then there's a stack of marvel epic collections that give you a curated story arc/s to read through and if you enjoy those then there's ~40 years of material to start getting deep into. some of it is really good, some of it is really bad, and a few things are so terrible they transcend limits all the way back to good.

i'm biased towards the 80s/90s era of punisher and tend to recommend people start there. they're all readable and fun, about as racist as x-men comics contemporary to the time (ie more than you expect with 2026 eyes, occasionally startling, but not constantly egregious) and i think it's good to start with an era that has some depth and interest in frank as a man with a personality and an internal life, vs the current flat featureless post-greg rucka era.

i am and i like that he sounds like shit, as befitting my personal beliefs. cable should always sound like he's running on three hours of sleep after being thrown through a brick wall.
