Shrine for the Anito.
Now wouldn’t it be great if people started putting these types of shrines up again like we did prior to the Spaniards arrival to honor our ancestors and we can pay our respects to them? After all our old religous beliefs before Christianity was Animism and ancestor veneration and above everything else such as worshipping our local deities, we prayed and worked with our ancestors far more than we did with the local Gods and Goddesses. Even though majority of Filipino’s don’t practice our native Animistic beliefs similar to the Japanese Shinto religion anymore, though some still do or are reviving it, and are Roman Catholic or Muslim, we can still pay our respects for our ancestors. After all, without them we wouldn’t be here today.
I’m working on it. My room is so small. One day I’m gonna have a beautiful shrine to my ancestral anito and the anito/manitou of the land. It’s going to be amazing. But for now, I’ve got my room and when I travel and can set it up in spaces like leadership retreats, conferences, camps, anywhere basically where I know it’s okay and the people of the land and the spirits of the land would appreciate it.
