who: open (0/5) where: the final whistle
Silas slammed the flat of his palm against the countertop, a grin spreading across his face. "Did you see that goal," he asked, awe tinging his tone. He'd supported the red devils since his days growing up in Manchester, he'd seen their ups and downs, -- they were a proud team with a storied history, and the way they were turning their fortunes around this season made him proud. So much so that he was feeling a bit generous. "What are you eating," he asked the person beside him, "lunch's on me."
"You know, I love it when I am in the right place at the right time," Fallon said with a smile. "You never let a girl go hungry, Silas, and I love that for me. It was an excellent goal." Fallon paused. "Granted, I am no expert. I've had to start learning hockey, which you should know how much I refused to get into sports and now I have to. As for lunch, do ballers eat some sort of wings? Or is that too American football?"

"I mean, I just think that if you really think about it, these are friends too," Ray said, feeding a leftover breadstick to Queen Large Trash. He'd been feeding a family of raccoons for a while. They were multiplying and he wouldn't be stopped at this point. No, absolutely not, now they all followed him like they were his little minions, wreaking havoc on local businesses — little proteges, if one were a keen observer. "They're better mannered than some people's kids around here."
open starter !! (0/5) wine tasting @ le coeur winery
"I feel very out of place." Zane half whispers, half chuckles, attempting to swirl the glass of wine that was in his hand. He was definitely more of a (cheap) beer guy, but also wasn't against new experiences. The most Zane knew about wine was whatever cheap bottles he bought to cook with, if he was being honest. "I'm mostly here for the hors d'oeuvres, I'm not gonna lie."
"They're going to babble on about the year and the cask and all sorts of things..." Fallon said with a wince. She was here because Ollie had has a sleepover with some friends — it was his third sleepover by himself at this friends house — and Fallon was getting to enjoy herself a little. It felt odd, criminal almost. The normally polished girl couldn't care less about the lecture from the sommelier and instead stole a piece of cheese. "I thought this would be fun. I don't think I am made for this."

"Okay, you have to tell me if I am insane," Fallon said as she snuck a look to make sure Ollie was still engrossed in building the model car he'd been working on for days. Ollie was in a big "build it" phase where he wanted Legos, model cars, and anything he could put together. Fallon didn't protest because it became two in one: something to keep him busy and engaged and something that he then decorated his room with. The only draw back was that he was already showing signs he'd advance past her in mathematics. It was a worry for another time. "I started Christmas shopping. Ollie wants to start playing hockey. Which, feels like a strange dichotomy with the modeling, mathing, but hey, his friends skate so... only issue is, I have no idea what to get."
blind date with a book. fallon delmar.
"if you were buying your mother a book, would you go with romance and hope it's not fifty shades-ish, or play it safe with a mystery that she'll still probably enjoy," she offered aloud, doubt weaved into every word like it was the most important question she'd ever asked. in a way, it was.
it was the difference between the older bernal woman raving and raging. "i'm the worst with surprises." she wasn't patient enough and the fear of falling short was too heavy.
@stubbcrnmyths
There was something timeless about the books, all wrapped in brown paper with short descriptions on them. A sucker for the roman-tasy, she had a handful of them in her hands. Books were the few things that made her feel alive. "It's a risk, you know — but what if your mom secretly likes a little bit of a smutty scene?" Fallon raised a brow. "I have distinct memories of my grandmother reading romance novels... you know, like the dime store ones."
where: local park bench when: early morning who: anyone (0/3)
The morning sun filtered through the trees, casting dappled light across the quiet park. Jenny sat on her usual bench, a half-finished coffee beside her and a worn paperback resting in her lap. The cool air carried the scent of rain and freshly cut grass — her favorite kind of morning.
She glanced up as footsteps approached, a warm smile tugging at her lips. “Didn’t think anyone else would be out this early,” she said lightly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “Guess I’m not the only one avoiding the chaos of the day.” A soft chuckle escapes her lips.
Cliff had a routine, the same one every morning. He'd wake up early, head to the Club. He'd finish any tasks that needed to be done before the day started — inventory, invoicing, hell sometimes he would bar back to help the morning kitchen crew and bartender. Then he would disappear to let his staff get ready without the boss and owner looming over them, where he would go for a run and then be back and showered before the first clients trickled in.
Today was no different.
"Keep me sharp. Coffee comes after the pre-workout, truthfully," Cliff said with a nod to her coffee. "What did you end up with today? Latte?"
