"Just a leak? Cause it was kind of... spurting..." Winnie sighed with a bit of hesitation. She was the last person to critique someone in their field of expertise, but when she turned on the sink for a glass of water and ended up in a one-woman wet T-shirt contest, she figured something was in need of replacing, not just tightening. This is a pretty old old house; my aunt is kind of ... lackadaisical, when it comes to maintenance. Are you sure it wont pop off again?"

he shakes his head, a soft laugh slipping past his lips at the image of water spraying everywhere. "don't worry," he says. "i made sure everythin's tightened up." he gives the pipe a quick glance before looking back at her. "my guess is someone—or maybe somethin', knocked it loose. it probably worked itself free over time, and unfortunately, you just happened to be the first victim it decided to spray." he chuckles, the words delivered with a teasing grin.

Relief settles somewhere behind her ribs. Thank God. She'd already been preparing herself to spend the rest of the day washing dishes in the bathtub. Which is a miserable way to spend a Friday. "Actually... no. I know you did."

Clara's never been good with handiwork. Never really needed to be. Two years ago, she would've just called her father before she'd even thought about touching a wrench. Now she mostly just stares at whatever's broken as if it'd feel guilty enough to fix itself.

It never does.

Which leaves Christian. Her hero without the cape. Just him and a toolbox she's entirely convinced is laced with magic.

"How much do I owe you?" She asks, turning toward the kitchen counter to grab the bag resting there.

christian can't help the broad smile that spreads across his face at her appreciation. acts of service were his thing. "don't sweat it, clara." he says with an easy shrug. "that's what i'm here for." he pushes himself up from the ground, tucking his wrench away as he dusts off his hands. "don't worry 'bout it," he adds, giving her a small wave to dismiss the thought of payment. "this one's on the house."

"it's really no trouble at all." he says with a half crooked smile before pushing himself up from the ground. "call me as many times as you need, i'll fix it." wiping his hands over his jeans to straighten them up, he takes a quick look around then back to her. "is there anything else you need fixin'?"
