the cows come gingerly out of the barn

and when they see that the ground is warm

they pick up a little speed, it makes me feel so good

trying to learn to be even half as aware of the things that bring me bits of happiness throughout the day as i am of the things that piss me off and break my heart. today’s was sitting on the kitchen floor with the early afternoon sunlight streaming in through the sliding glass door and eating the mango that i’ve been watching slowly ripen on the counter over the last two weeks. felt like a small bit of summer amidst an already long and cold winter- sweet and sticky and warm. carried the feeling around inside my chest with me all day. also. cows. so many cows on the drive in to boise :)
