Me: I don't have the energy for this
Someone: For what?
Me: *gestures vaguely*
You’ll end up real disappointed if you think people would do for you what you’d do for them

the problem with ‘we accept the love we think we deserve’ is that sometimes we can only accept the love we are able to find.
sometimes the timing is off, sometimes it isn’t fully corresponded, sometimes it makes you feel like death. and even if we know, or like to think, that we deserve something better — can’t we accept these little moments when we need them? can’t we sit in the present and enjoy the comfort they bring us without overanalysing and judging anything that isn’t in its purest, most innocent and unaltered form?
maybe sitting in the car, holding hands for ten minutes before you take off to meet someone else is all I can do for now. maybe it’s all I can find right now, when I desperately need some warmth that I cannot provide for myself. maybe it’s just for a short while before it sends me spiralling into a wave of emotions and the bitter taste of my unfinished affection for you.
maybe it’s something as small as your scent on my clothes. maybe that will be enough to push me through the day.
