What to do when you are bored

Have you ever been bored and thought: "wow i sure do hope someone on tumblr decides to make a list of things to do when bored that DOES NOT INVOLVE boring stuff like doing chores"

Well you're in luck because I have the list for you! Here it is:

Research topics

Whether this is for a project or for fun, these are some interesting research topics. They could be serious or they could be silly but all of them will be interesting.

Plant poisons and their lookalikes. Alternatively, learn how to forage in your local area. Don't eat anything you find without a trained professional to help you!

Bird identification

Taxonomy. This is a wide field so choose a small category of things to learn about. For example, instead of trying to learn about every mammal classification, learn about lemur classification.

Game theory and logical puzzles. Again, a very broad field, so focus on a specific few puzzles to analyze.

Alternative Pomodoro Timings

I often find that the traditional 25 minutes on, 5 minutes off pomodoro method doesn't work for me. 25 minutes feels like too little a stretch of time for me to get into a flow state. Overall, it's just choppy and doesn't feel productive.

My favourite timings would be:

45:15. 45 minutes of work feels doable and gives me plenty of time to get in the swing of things. 15 minutes is a nice long break.

60:25. Same benefits as the previous one but a little longer.

I also like to shorten the work incriments as my day goes by to account for changes in my focus as I get more tired.
