Either there are a ton of half-naked girls that like 3D renders of GI Joe, or the auto-spammers are keying in on the word Cobra. Ugh.

Terrordrome Final
Mitch Scott's Cobra base is now finished. Here is the final test render. Now I need to get on the ball and finish up my base.
GI Joe Base Work in Progress
Hopefully you guys remember the Transportable Tactical Battle Platform, my favorite base as a kid. Shouldn't take too much longer to finish and hologramify
Terrordrome work pt. 2
Mitch Scott's Terrordrome is almost complete.
Cobra base
Our bad guys will soon have a place to uh... plot evil?

GI Joe vs. Cobra - the Holo-war
The other day at Full Sail, Kyle Cooper came to speak. He is a world renowned motionographer who works on sequences for films and tv. (look up opening credits for Se7en, Spider-man 1, 2, 3 for examples) His company also did the holograms for Iron Man 1 and 2. This of course led to many student questions about how to create 3D renders of holograms.
It didn't take us too long to figure out how to create the holograms. (specifically it didn't take James McCurry too long) So we threw together a few test renders.
Like this old HISS model I had laying around:
I also wanted to see what it looked like composted into some footage, so this happened:
Each of us began testing various techniques and it became apparent that we had the seeds of a cool project on our hands.
So, our foray into hologram rendering has led to a short film with 2 people battling Starcraft-style using GI Joe and Cobra vehicles. The film will be combination of video footage and toy size 3D graphics battling it out on a air hockey sized table. think the holographic chess set in Star Wars meets Iron Man-style graphics meets Starcraft. (or so we hope) Here are some of the vehicles being modeled.
We will keep you updated with techniques, images and footage as it becomes available.
