What artists in the chart are you impressed with at the moment?

Two artists stick out for me in the charts at the moment, Foster The People are an indie band making waves worldwide, reaching number 18 in the U.K. charts and number 3 in the states which is unusual considering the genre they carry in the dance-centric charts.

The other artist that has impressed me recently is fellow Brighton band Rizzle Kicks. Less than a year ago they were unknown artists just releasing remixes of others songs on Youtube, this enable them gain a following and eventually led to them being singed. Just a few days ago they hit number 2 in the U.K. charts, they are a perfect example of how the Internet has aided the rise of unknown artists.

How important is it to find a studio that suits you when recording?

It is essential that you are comfortable when recording so that the record you create can reach it's full potential. I don’t think it is possible to go into any old recording studio and create something really special. I think more than anything it is important to have a good relationship with the engineer/producer you are recording with, a good relationship with them can really help to create something you are proud of.

What do you think about StudioBookers and why would you recommend it to your friends?

Pointing you back to the last questions, finding the right studio is vital. What I think is so good about StudioBookers is its ability to narrow down your search for a studio into one place. We are going to be recording new material in the near future and StudioBookers will enable us to compare various studios within one place. Excuse the pun, but the services really does ‘Make Music Easy!’

What do you think are the most unique challenges faced by an indie artist?

As the music charts in recent times has contained dance and pop music, it is becoming increasingly more difficult for indie music to make an impact. The challenge is to create music that is original and will get people listening in such a dance orientated climate.

If you were stuck on a desert island, who would you want to be stuck with, musicians or otherwise?

Being stuck on an island with Beyonce wouldn't be too bad!

Single releases this week included Professor Green, Lana Del Rey and Bon Iver. The band Cover Drive topped the midweek charts with their single 'Twilight,' whilst Adele's '21' Tops the album chart once again on its 53rd week in the Chart.

MTV announced their 'Best Of The Best UK MC's' list earlier this week with Wretch 32 coming out on top. The list featured some high profile snubs with the likes of Tinie Tempah and Dizzee Rascal not appearing at all. You can view the full list below.

Michael Jackson was immortalised with a hand and footprint ceremony earlier on this week. His three children Prince, Paris and Blanket paid tribute by imprinting his hand and footprints into cement outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
