I’m honestly sick and tired of the prosperity gospel.

Whether you’re teaching the full version of it or some watered-down version of it, I really don’t want to hear it. It was hard when I had to debunk it my church when some of the elders and some of the parents of my friends were teaching it and recommending preachers like Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn and a bunch of other false teachers. Nobody wanted to listen to Scripture or the sound doctrine that comes from it. God is not our genie. We ask him of things and he grants us things according to his will, according to what he knows is best for us, not what we want or think we need. If he gives us good health then it’s something that we should be thankful for but if he allows us to be afflicted with illness we would just have to discern on whether or not it’s discipline for us or it’s a trial that we have to go through in order for us to grow. But if you’re going to say that Christians only get sick because they lack faith in God then you’d have to answer the questions ‘Why do Christians even die in the first place? Do they just run out of faith somewhere along the way and God doesn’t heal their affliction anymore?’ If you’re saying that Christians should be rich then I’d have to ask why the early church weren’t living luxury during their time? Why were they facing persecution and hatred instead? The prosperity gospel only works if you cherry-pick verses that you like or verses you can easily take out of context. The gospel doesn’t promise a trouble-free life if you trust in God. God promises to adopt you, change you, give you a life according to his own purpose and give you eternal life when the time comes. But even with that we still have to live in these fallen bodies and in this fallen world. Rant over.

The Gospel is precious to every Christian. We MUST protect its integrity at all cost. For Jesus’ sake.

This verse reminds me not to get lost in my inner struggles for peace and constant rationalization of why things are or aren’t. What Christ did for me in the cross is enough reason to cease struggling and to find comfort in God’s promises, fully knowing that He is in control of everything and my soul is secured in Him, no matter what happens in this life.

Here's a simple mindfulness technique to overcome anxiety: Think of a person/situation that has positively/negatively impacted your life. Now, assign a circle to that person/situation. Imagine that the size of their circle is the amount of impact you're allowing them to have in your life. Focus on the positive ones; allow them to expand their circle by sharing what you have gained or learned from them. Then limit the negative ones to as small a circle as you want them to be. The key is to allow yourself to focus on and to welcome the positives and to blot out the negatives. #circles #mindfulness #MentalHealthAwareness
