Studio Malarkey on the Photomafia podcast
Sam, Jessica and Luke were lucky enough to be interviewed by Joe and Lucy from Photomafia Studios for their podcast.
We talk about our studio (and malarkey in general), how we all came to be trapped in Northampton, UK, making art by allowing yourself play, experimentation and giving yourself permission to make mistakes as well as some other silly things along the way.
We also slowly get quite tiddly (I think this was a first for the Photomafia peeps).

Stars Fell on Alabama
Save the date! Fri 30th May, 2025.
Visiting artist Sarah Gillett will indulge audiences with this 20 minute event.
A live performance at 7pm, blazing a trail through space, ancient Egypt, a mysterious event in early 20th century Siberia and the very human story of Mrs Ann Hodges, the only NASA-verified meteorite strike victim in history.
A lifetime embroidery project
Save the date, Friday 30th May, 2025.
Sam P. Gibson will be hosting an embroidery project. In her own words "after years of hibernation, I'm cracking out this ongoing lifespan embroidery project. It's a collaboration between me and everyone. 'Everyone' can draw, sign, or write a slogan, on the fabric. I then stitch over the marks to create a huge textile wall hanging. A lasting curiosity of a fleeting doodle. The ultimate collaboration.
I need more marks so it'll be at our Studio Malarkey event on Friday 30th May. You can have a go with a felt tip pen. A quick scribble, sign your name, get political or do what some local teen boys did and draw a classic dobber.
Anything goes.
Hope to see you there.
Analog selfies
Save the date! May 30th
Helllllo! We're opening up studio MALARKEY for portrait sessions. Come on down on Fri May 30th and have your free portrait taken. I've you have ever wanted the luxury of having your photograph taken using analog technology but then having to wait days to see the results, then this event is for you.
"But why would I want get invovled in that", I hear you cry.
1. I will be using some very old tech, a large format Kodak camera from the 1950's.
2. You get push the shutter! Yes, I have a super long (pneumatic) cable release and to give sitters some autonomy, they get to trigger the camera.
3. You'll get a copy of the photograph emailed to you.
4. It's totally free!
5. The negative is massive. Like really big, 5x7 inches in fact.
6. There will be lots of interesting and creative people present who you can talk to.
7. It will be a lot of fun.
8. There'll be refreshments.
Put it in the diary, would love to see you there.
