Stunting in Indonesia
Stunting is a complex problem in Indonesia, as it affects many people in many ways. These include children growing up malformed in body and mind, with no way of reversing this.
This in turn causes a heavy toll on the gdp, with a decrease of up to 10,5%.
The problem stems from a lack of education and lack of basic knowledge in approx. 75,000 rural villages around Indonesia, which in turn leads to a lack of fulfilling basic needs, such as clean water, toilets and proper hygiene.
Responsibility lies with policy makers and NGOs to revitalize and support “posyandus” (local hospitals) to make sure that these basic needs are met.
