You understand Teacher, don’t you, that when you have a mother who’s an angel and a father who is a cannibal king, and when you have sailed on the ocean all your whole life, then you don’t know just how to behave in school with all the apples and ibexes.
Astrid Lindgren, Pippi Longstocking (via quoted-books)
This quote is my favorite Pippi quote. I don’t agree with the usage of the term cannibal king but I understand that character of Pippi meant well and unfortunately her book was written decades ago so it includes archaic phrases that don’t speak correctly.
Pippi represents my own childish longing to meet a person who has power but does not abuse it.

Do you remember ?
There it is, Wendy; second star to the right and straight on till morning.
“I am a lost boy from Neverland. Usually hanging out with Peter Pan. And when we’re bored we play in the woods. Always on the run from Captain Hook. Run, run, lost boy they say to me. Away from all of reality.”
I am lonely, yet not everybody will do. I don’t know why, some people fill the gaps but other people emphasize my loneliness.
Anais Nin (via onlinecounsellingcollege)
This is a reminder that it’s okay if you don’t have any super close friends. Nothing’s wrong with you. You’ll find your people eventually, you just gotta wait a little bit. It’ll be worth it

Every day is a struggle to be a good person when I feel so alone. I try so hard to connect and communicate and be friends with everyone I meet. But everyone else has their village, family, community, etc and they don’t need me to talk to. They are busy and it is normal for them to prioritize their energy on their personal relationships. It is really hard to not get anxious or emotional when I feel so lonely. This is a good reminder that I just have to keep trying to reach out and not become bitter and convinced that everyone in the world around me is cynical.
