āFellowship is heaven.ā William MorrisĀ
Boot Camp is an exhibition featuring the work of three Chelsea MA Fine Art students - Rosalind Faram, Amy Robson and Stephen White.Ā
After learning of ABC Projects from an established mid-career artist, the three artists have recently set up their own experimental programme designed to maintain critical engagement, to encourage bold experimentation in the studio and to nurture the practice of an artistsā fellowship over the coming years. This rigorous programme borrows strategies from business development, sports psychology, philosophy, science and religion.Ā
The inaugural exhibition is the result of their initial critical dialogue and subsequent experimentation within the Arts SU Exhibition & Project Space at Chelsea.Ā
Rosalind Faram (b. Wirral, UK) is an English artist whose practice incorporates multiple parallel streams, often merging to open new ways of working. Painting, drawing and sculpture in bronze, cloth and ceramic interchange to form environments which primarily can be experienced as familiar but soon shift into something else, defying their usual parameters.Ā
Amy Robson (b. Pittsburgh, PA) is an American artist who has lived in the UK for over twenty years. As a US/UK citizen, she uses her dual outsiderās perspective to explore loss, disillusionment and the collective anxiety pervasive in both countries.Ā
Stephen White (b. Crowborough, UK) is a painter and lives and works in Hastings, East Sussex. There is a thin line running between surrealism and magical realism within his work and it is exactly that line or dimension, on which the work retains a unique balance.Ā
