A bunch of you have been liking this post since Chekhov's fanartapalooza post. I've gotten a bunch of new followers and at this point I think y'all deserve a bit of an updated explanation on where this AU might be going. I've been getting tons of questions, like:
-Where have you been all this time?
Art school. I'm in the animation certification program at Mt. San Antonio College. It's my last semester. I'm starting a work experience (basically interning for school credit) with the creator of Dogs in Space (2021) this coming week.
I genuinely have had zero time to do basically anything outside of school and band and searching for apartments and maintaining jobs and frankly I've been growing progressively more insane as time goes on because I barely have time to lie down at night, eat, or shower. I have doodled maybe like three things for myself in the past (-checks watch-) six months. Maybe longer.
-Are you still tired of Steven Universe stuff?
In my final year and a half of my bachelor's degree, I had a hellish time, and because of how much stress I was under, my brain tried to solve the problem by hyperfixating so hard I couldn't think of anything else. When I was finally free of that Hell, I didn't want to touch SU with a ten foot pole.
I still skip every SU song in a slight panic when my Spotify brings them up on shuffle.
-But aren't you doing stuff for Mod Joe's SU AU?
He pays me to do art for him in general (not just for SU). As it turns out, money can be exchanged for goods and services, and that takes a huge priority. I'm trying to afford living costs of varying kinds. I also tutor and really need to increase my prices. By like a lot.
-Is this AU ever coming back?
Probably, if I can get my shit together after I'm done with art school. I might also have time and sanity then to rekindle some old friendships. Well, I can dream, at least.
If and when this AU does come back, it'll probably get an outright reboot. I've kind of learned a lot in school and through osmosis over time.
