I forget how long ago it been, but some years ago Yark had done some art of Gene, as a means of practice for another project she did for me. I love the art, and I had the idea of making a 'high-res' version of it. So I scaled it up, re-did the lines, and added the color. Working on this was kind of bittersweet, I love the art but I really miss Yark so much, it was hard not to tear up working on this. The art is Yark's, I just redid the lines and added the color

A batch of Magnuses drawn for a live art demo about telling a story with character design that I did last year.
In the lecture portion of the demo, I was trying to demonstrate how to tell a story visually through a character, which is a very complex task, but I broke it down into three core elements: expression, posture/body language, and costume. These were my pre-drawn examples to show how each of those elements can function in isolation, and Magnus served as the example character.

I'm hoping to work on the rest of the pages throughout the summer to finish it up!
