Kai chuckled at her seeming hopefulness. Hey, whatever made her comfortable about this worked for him. He still wasn’t sure he was even comfortable with it. Though the idea of telling someone exactly what to do, whenever he wished deep down sounded semi appealing. He did have a big head at times after all. “Well, besides your run of the mill girlfriend here and there throughout my younger years and one nighters, I was engaged once. Though, when I found out she was seeing a old friend behind my back, that was over. So, I suppose just your normal relationships so far.”
Ella was grateful she had a master who wasn’t actually a master. Maybe this way, she could genuinely grow and become someone outside of the cloud of darkness her father put her into. She frowned when he mentioned his previous relationships, crossing her arms a little. “That was horrible of her to do to you. You’re such a kind man. At least, to me you are.” Shaking her head, she reached for his hand a moment, squeezing it softly. “I promise to be better than that. I’d never hurt you.”
