What is a pitch deck?
A pitch deck is simply a presentation intended to be used to pitch investor. Pitch, in the sense of presenting the project and asking for funding.
A pitch deck can be made using Microsoft’s Powerpoint, Apple’s Keynote, or any other presentation software.
The main section of a pitch deck are usually:
1. Introduction Company name, your name and contact details.
2. Problem / Opportunity What problem are you trying to solve? What opportunity you see?
3. Solution / Value Proposition Describe how are you planning to solve the problem or to take advantage of this opportunity.
4. Advantages / Unfair Advantage What makes your solution so special? How are you different from others? What is you magic sauce? use pictures, flowcharts, diagrams. If you have a prototype even better.
5. Business model How are you planning to make money? And when you expect this should happen.
6. Go to Market Plan How are you going to reach the customers, what marketing plans you have.
7. Competitive Analysis What is the size of your target market. What are the alternative solutions to the problem you are trying to solve? How does the competitive landscape look like ?
8. Team Show the people behind the idea and what are their roles? Also present the board of directors and major investors if it is the case.
9. Traction & Financial Projection Do a financial forecast, and provide key metrics, like number of customers, conversion rate, etc...
10. Investing ask, Current status & use of funds How much money are you asking for? And how do you intend to use it? What is your current status, and what will it be after getting the money.
