Forgot to upload photos of these cute little baby tortoises from last year. They found new homes already but hopefully there will be more this year too :) So special to be able to watch these adorable new tortoises grow. August 24, 2020

We had some unexpectedly cold and strong rain that required the tegus to be brought inside. I might have to buy a second bin to keep these things in during the cold winter storms! Crazy and wonderful how big they are getting. January 23 & 29, 2021

Soviet surplus БДЭГ-01Р // BDEG-01R scintillation probe I bought this on a bit of an impulse buy (seller accepted a very low eBay offer). This has a 63x63mm NaI(Tl) crystal in it paired with a ФЭУ-82 (FEU-82) photomultiplier tube. Need to get some new hardware to finish this up before I will be ready to try doing any gamma spectrometry testing with this. The PMT has pretty underwhelming specs of "≤13%" resolution so I am not expecting anything too impressive from it besides the count rate out of a crystal that large. May have to consider swapping it out for a better photomultiplier tube in the future...

Detailed comparison of just the 1 hr trinitite spectrum versus a 1hr background measurement. Looks pretty good! Can definitely tell that we are dealing with more than just your average hot rock here.
