How to do Your Best on a Test:
Before:
Study/Practice - This one is obvious, but it’s important. There’s no way you’ll do well on a test if you don’t study or review your notes, so this is necessary.
See what you’re confused about - This is also really important. Identify what you know and don’t know. Then talk to your teacher, and ask them to clarify whatever it is you’re confused about. You’ll be grateful when you actually know what to do.
Sleep Well - Although you may want to stay up all night and study, it’s better if you get a full 8 hours or more of sleep. You’ll do better on your test if your mind can focus, and if you’re not about to pass out any second.
During:
Read all the questions carefully, and then reread them - This’ll help you get an idea of the format of test, and you can decide where to start. Also reading the questions before hand will make sure you won’t miss an important instruction or step.
Skip challenging questions, and then go back to them - It’s easy to get stumped by a confusing question, but it’s better not to waste your time. If there’s a question you just don’t get, skip it. You can always come back to it.
Take your time - You may have limited time to finish your test, but it’s still important to not rush. You’re more likely to make a mistake if you go too fast, so take your time, and answer each question carefully.
After:
Double Check Your Answers - Before handing in your test, make sure you’ve answered every single question. Go over the test, and you may also see a mistake that could’ve lost you marks. Doing this simple step will really benefit you.
Talk with your classmates - If there was something you weren’t too sure about, talk with your classmates, and see what they got. They can help give you some perspective as to whether you answered correctly or not.
See where you went wrong - After getting your test back, check and see what questions you got wrong. Then talk to your classmates and teacher and see what you did wrong, and how to fix it. This’ll help you avoid making a similar mistake in the future.
How These Skills Have Helped Me:
What you do during a test is just as important as what you do while studying, which is why i’m glad i learned these skills. I always talk to a teacher before a test to clear up any confusion i may have, and to make sure i know everything i need to. This obviously helps me a lot when it comes to taking a test. I always make sure to read all the questions carefully before hand so i don’t make little mistakes that could’ve been avoided. I also skip any questions i don’t get, so i can make the most out of my time. I always check over my answers, and take my time doing so. I’ll hold on to my test as long as possible, so i can make sure I've answered all the questions, and so i can fix any mistakes i notice. After i hand in the test, i talk to my friends, and see how they answered certain questions, so i can compare my answers to theirs. After getting my mark back, i either wait until the teacher takes up the answers, or i’ll ask them about any questions i got wrong, so i can make corrections. Even though what i do while studying is important, so is what i do while taking the test. By learning these skills, i can manage my time during tests better, and i am overall more confident while taking a test.

Successful Study Habits and Skills:
Don’t do too much at once - Doing too much studying at once can make it harder to focus, and it’s easier to get tired. By taking short breaks every once in a while, it becomes easier to focus on your work.
Study at the same time each day - Doing this helps create a routine and it’ll become a more regular part of your day. When you get used to studying at a certain time each day, it becomes easier for you to get into a mindset for studying.
Set specific goals for your study time - Using goals can help motivate you more, and can help you get more out your studying. By focusing on something you want to accomplish, you’re more likely to get it done.
Avoid distractions - It’s easy to get distracted while studying, but avoiding distractions is important. Unless your work requires a device, put it away. Avoid listening to really loud music, and don’t study somewhere that’s too comfortable, like your bed. By avoiding these distractions you’ll remain more focused.
Work with friends - Even though you shouldn’t be using a device during your study time, calling or texting a friend can help you if you’re having difficulty with your work. A second mind can help you figure out what you need to know, and you can do the same for them.
Review work in your free time - Weekends are meant to be fun, but if you really have nothing to do, reviewing your notes over the weekend can be a big help. This extra bit of work will help you when it comes time for tests or assignments.
How These Skills Have Helped Me:
Knowing how to study successfully is very important. By taking breaks, i find it easier to focus on my work, and i can study for longer, and i don’t get tired. I’ve also started to study at the same time everyday, and I've found that it’s now easier for myself to start studying. I also like to set goals before i start studying, because i find it makes me feel more motivated, and i get more accomplished. Obviously avoiding distractions is important, and i don’t use my device unless i need to, and i always study at my desk. I also like working with my friends when i can, because we can help each other out, and so if any of us are confused about anything, we can clear it up. Finally, when i have free time, i occasionally go over some of my notes, and it helps me remember information better, which helps me when i have an upcoming test or assignment. Overall, study skills are an important skill that i will use throughout high school, and the rest of my career. Learning these skills in GLS is going to benefit me greatly.

Tips for Managing Your Time and Avoiding Procrastination:
Use a planner or an agenda - Using something to write down your responsibilities in will make it much easier to remember what you have to do, and helps you stay more organized. You can even use the calendar on your phone! Creating to-do lists also helps.
Prioritize the tasks you have to do - Prioritizing tasks will help you decide how to split your time up in a much more effective way, and it’ll help you get all your work done on time.
Plan specific times to do your work - Doing this will help you do your work at a good time or the time you work best, and can also help you avoid doing anything you’re not supposed to. Sticking to a schedule can also help you feel more accomplished.
Stay Organized - Having everything you need before starting a task helps you avoid spending too much time looking for things you need, and ultimately gives you more time to work on your tasks.
Break tasks up - Trying to finish a big task all at once can overwhelm you and you may end up procrastinating more. Instead, break tasks up into smaller parts, they’ll be easier to manage, and help you get your work done.
Avoid distractions - This is very important when it comes to managing your time. Unless you need a device for your task, put them away. It’s easy to get distracted by a text message, but your work is more important. Don’t do work on your bed either, it’s easy to get too comfortable, and it’ll make it harder to do your work. Avoiding little distractions like these will make working on your tasks much easier, and help you get them done on time.
How These Tips Have Helped Me:
Before i started using these tips I would leave my homework to the last minute, or it was hard for me to focus while doing my work. Using these tips made doing my work and managing my time much easier. By using a calendar, I can easily remember and take note of any tasks i have to do. I never forget to do any of my homework or assignments. By prioritizing my tasks and planning what i’m going to do ahead of time, i make sure any tasks i have to do are completed, and i also finish them quicker. Staying organized also helps me do this. Finally, by breaking tasks up, and avoiding distractions, i am able to stay focused on a task, and make sure it gets finished. Overall, using these time management skills have helped me become a more successful student, and use my time more wisely.
