  Summary:

Reeling from loss, Philip returns to Tivoli three years after he left New York to pursue a happier life in L.A. Its Christmas, and no one seems keen on letting Philip forget that. He smokes, he drives country roads aimlessly, and he smokes some more. Philip Shea does whatever he can to forget what he's lost, to forget where he is, and to forget who he might run into while running errands and trying to survive in this godforsaken town. All in all, everything is going somewhat to plan. That is, until Lukas Waldenbeck shows up unexpectedly to a holiday party and sends Philip on a heartbreaking and bittersweet trip down memory lane while the two rekindle old flames and explore roads not taken.

Told through both present-day and flashbacks, this work explores what might have happened between Philip and Lukas had the cabin murders not occurred—with a (hopefully) fun twist in the form of a Christmas setting!

Okay, but honestly I was loving Wednesday and Tyler together, especially the part where he show her Legally Blonde and him watching her dance was honestly too cute.

I really hated the plot twist of Tyler being the Hyde all along.

I wanted his arc to be that he was also investigating into the murders as well, like every time he becomes the Hyde he will lost his memory about it and try to solve what’s happening to him, would’ve had a stronger impact.

Overall, I think his character was ruined for a unnecessary plot twist.

THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS AND SNAKES WAS SO FUCKING GOOD WHAT THE FUCK….y’all….the way that Suzanne Collins manages to write Snow as such a believably awful person who’s actions are critiqued within the text without taking away the lack of self-awareness that makes him just so terrible is just *chefs kiss* maybe I’m biased cus I love THG and have since elementary school but idc idc idc this book was so great—one of my fav reads this year so far.
