Watching Eight Below fucks me up.
What’s that about?
“Today I walked into a teacher’s office hours late and while they were half naked…”
“Sounds like it was a terrifying experience.”
“Mi-chan?” he said, growing more worried when he did’t get a response from her. This was very unlike the Min Sue that he knew. Usually she was all bubbly around him with a wide smile on her face, but now she looked paled and really tired. “ Min –” his eyes widened in shock when she fainted in his arms. “Ā, seikō.” he cursed in his native tongue under his breathe and picked up the girl bridal style. “Dôshiyô, dôshiyô, dôshiyô…” he mumbled to himself over and over again as he tried to figured out what to do. He’s never taken care of someone who fainted on him. “Mi-chan? –Wake up, please.” he said helplessly. Akira looked around, there were just houses of people he didn’t know there. Why couldn’t they have been in town where there’s places where he could get help easily? He fixed her in his arms and started walking to his cousin’s apartment –where he was currently staying. Every couple of seconds he’d look down to check on her, to see if she was waking up. After a few minutes, he finally made it to the apartment.
The man laid her down on his bed carefully, making sure that she was comfortable. He looked down at her and frowned slightly as he noticed the dark circle under her eyes. She must have been overworking herself a lot lately. Akira caressed her hair softly, and watched her closely, waiting for her to wake up. “ Anata dake surīpu jōtai ni shitai de.” A faint smile appeared on his lips as he sat next to her on the bed, his eyes never leaving her.
The female’s eye lids slowly fluttered open, confusion instantly striking her as the room she’d woken wasn’t the one she was expecting. Sue Lee sat up slowly from her spot on the bed, ready to call out for Lily but noticing Akira passed out beside her on the bed surprised the female even more. What was he doing here ---- Actually, What was she doing here? As soon as the questions popped in her mind, memories of the encounter beforehand. The dizziness, running into Akira, trying to reassure him she was okay and the color black slowly invading her vision before fainting. Upon remembering that, Sue was instantly able piece together the questions on how’d she’d gotten to Lily’s house. Akira.
A small smile crept on the raven-haired girl’s features, looking over at him sound asleep. It was moments like this when she felt grateful for having someone as kind-hearted as him around. When it came to most people, they were friendly -- that wasn’t wrong -- but Akira? He was different. The male wasn’t only friendly, but geninuely cared about other people and what they were feeling. When he asked someone how they were doing, he honestly wanted to know; never just asking to be polite. That’s what Min Sue liked about him. Not many guys around Darlington ever acted with the same intents that he did.
The Korean girl couldn’t keep her eyes off of him, the small smile now extending into something much bigger. God, he was honestly really thankful to have him here beside her. To thank him for it, Sue slowly began to lean down towards his sleeping figure, eyes closing and lips puckered to place a light kiss on his cheek.
Lookin’ for a fella. Curly ‘air, blue eyes. Most likely taller than me. An’ Irish. Yer know one?
Ah ---- can’t say that I do. And I’m telling you, someone else with that same accent wouldn’t be hard to forget.
“I can see that you’re not, Mi-chan.” he said, quickly grabbing a hold of her before she falls down. “Do you think you can walk with my help? We’ll go to Yuri’s place. I’m staying there right now. It’s not too far from here.”
The area was spinning far too much for the female’s liking. Sue had things that she needed to get done. Important things. Choreography, going to the gym, a lot and the female honestly couldn’t sit around watching the time go by when she could be out working like she was suppose to. But as much as she wanted to fight the feeling, Min Sue could practically see the darkness twinkling from the corner of her eyes and could feel the room spinning around faster. She was going to faint and honestly couldn’t fight it ---- no matter how hard she wanted to. The brunette felt the grasp of arms propping her up, but couldn’t hear the words that were coming out of his mouth. Not a single one. And before she knew, everything went black.
“I may have a resting bitch face, but I’m not one, promise. You look overtired. Is you place close by?”
Sue couldn’t help but to let out a slight snicker when it came to the opposing female’s comment, but soon found herself slowly taking a seat on the vacant public bench --- sighing as the room continued to spin. “I live like, three or four blocks from here. But I ----- I can’t go home right now. There’s a lot that I have ... no, need to get done.”
“I’m fine ... honestly. You don’t have to worry about me. Just .... just keeping doing what you’re doing.”
“I swear, two weeks in Madrid did me no favors. Here I am, back in Darlington and not even a tan to show for it. I didn’t even wear sunscreen.”
“That’s exactly how I felt when I went to California for a family vacation. It’s suppose to be hot ass hell over there, but did I tan at all? Nope. Looked the same coming home as I did going over there.”
“It’s always weird running into someone from high school because you have to act like you remember them and that you were friendly.”
“I know the struggle. Do you know how many teachers have come up to me and talk about all these memories from class? And little do they know, I can’t remember a single thing.”
“Guess who’s ready for his trip?”
“Don’t have too much fun without me.”
“So…I’m just gonna see myself out. That cool with you?”
“Uh ---- Absolutely cool. As long as we can pretend like everything that happened last night didn’t happen. Oh, and don’t forget about the keys near the door... Pretty sure you can’t get far without them.”
“Mi-chan! I was hoping I’d run into you. How’ve you been?”
"Why didn't you just come looking for me? You know I never go too far from here. I've been good, same as always so I can't really complain. What about you?"
“What’s the point then?”
“Celebrating the fact that you’re a year older and healthy? That’s my reasoning.”
Hmm— in a way it is. But at the same time, I’m asking because I’m curious onto why you don’t want to give it a try. It’s not like I’m trying to get you killed or anything.
Not trying to get me killed? Total B-S. I’m pretty sure if I actually attempted at it, I would die. Nearly instantly.
“I chalk it up to 24 years of anecdotal proof.”
“Things do have the ability to change, you know.”
