“He’s probably mad that there’s no one to see him in his ‘kiss the cook’ apron,” Trev snickered, killing the engine. He plucked up his things, (the jacket, his phone, the bottle of water) and slid around to help prop Suede up. She was doing well, but it was nice anyways to have her grip to his side, laughing as they made their way around the manicured front garden to get to the door. A press of his thumb on the key fob had the doors to the AMG beeping to lock, and he fumbled to get the key for the vacation house. Knocking would summon either Beatrice or an angry Kas, both of whom were demons he didn’t feel like facing just at this moment. Instead, he unlocked the door and ushered Suede indoors, tutting at her words. “Nah, that’s more up Ari’s alley.” There was activity in the dining room— likely a result of the massive order of food Kas had gotten for the gang, and he steered the blonde in that direction. “Smells like springrolls,” he noted, “Always a good sign.” For the sake of the other inhabitants, Trev lifted his voice, calling out, “Honeys, I’m home!”
The table was laden with goods and he could see the back of Ari’s shirt as he disappeared in the direction of his bedroom with a plate filled, and Lee seemed to have a similar idea, lifting a brow at Trev’s guest before saying an easy hello, then she too, scuttled off with her dinner. It was Kas that remained, hands on hip like a terse housewife. “Everything’s getting cold.” Trev grabbed two plates, passing one to Suede before loading up on bourbon chicken. “Hit some traffic,” he lied, waiting not a half moment to tease. “Sweetie, you didn’t have to wait up.”
The huff and the annoyed, “I’m going to bed,” was his response and with the dining room cleared out, Trev looked over at Suede. A laugh left him for her sake, but he knew that he’d have to make up missing Fortnite night another day, “We take dinner time very seriously.”
there was one, two, three ── then gone, and she had offered them all a smile and a quiet ‘hi’ but they seemed upset that trev had skipped out on dinner to come get her. “tell me i’m not getting you into too much trouble,” she bit back quietly, elbow nudging into his side as she laughed, the smell of home cooking filling the aroma of the room. “thanksgiving must be a big holiday for you,” she pointed out, eyes flashing over to the details of the wall, a few pictures, and around the room, wanting to soak up any intimate detail of his housing as she could ── she liked that part of people’s homes: the vulnerability. she could see out the glass door to the pool, familiar from the evening of the party, grinning. “are you guys the type of people that don’t actually use your pool?” she could feel herself growing more tired, the weight of alcohol heavying her body as the night grew later and the drunk wore off slowly. “haven’t used my pool for a while now. and i don’t think my parents have even dipped a toe in it. pretty sure my mother has only even been outside to see it when she was ordering around the construction workers who built it with her elaborate design ideas,” she muttered, teetering off with a robust laugh as her fingers combed through her blonde hair.
