Hiiiiiii so I recently submitted a piece of poetry for a semi-local online creative mag and the theme was āchildhood homeā. And I thought Iād share it here too! It wasnāt a competition or anything but Iām very happy it got published in the lit mag anyways :3
A roaring, crackling mass of fire
Scaring away the shadows,
The simmering snaps and pops of the wood burning like sudden laughter, the constant noise keeping me company in my room.
However could such a big mansion fit into a little girl's bedroom?
One small room, in a cold empty house.
But I would always be greeted with warmth five times over when Iād wander back home.
As obvious of a metaphor this poem is, I still love it dearly and I think all of us in our small community can understand what Iām going for here, what Iām trying to express despite maybe everyone elseās experience and thoughts on the game being less family oriented than how I feel about it, but at the end of the day itās still a warmth to us, at least I imagine so anyways. But yeah :) my first proper stab at writing poetry (other than a few drabbles that I never finished lol)
