When our dog Jacques died, I noticed how my mom would often stare blankly at the veranda near where he was buried. Sometimes she would act like she wasn’t affected and didn’t want us to mention that Jacques was already gone. From our topic last saturday, this shows how people cope with grief by using emotional suppression and self-schemas— she tried to see herself as “strong” to function in daily life. It made me realize that not showing emotions doesn’t mean the pain isn’t there; sometimes, people hide their feelings because that’s how they survive loss.
Ate miss you so much my love:(
