They are already selling data to midjourney, and it's very likely your work is already being used to train their models because you have to OPT OUT of this, not opt in. Very scummy of them to roll this out unannounced.

here's some instructions for anyone who doesn't know how to opt out:

login in on desktop, it's not available on mobile yet

click "Account"

click on your blog

go to "Blog Settings"

go to "Visibility"

Scroll down to the bottom option

turn the toggle ON, not off

you will have to do this individually for each sideblog you have too, no way to do it for each account in one go

I just turned my prevent sharing with third party on. But how does this work when someone else reblogs and doesn't have this turned on?

Does it even matter at that point?

I wasn't afraid of my art being fed to ai since im a small artist.... ai art is pissing me off more and more.

Can we really “opt out” in the first place when the damage has been done? (Fun fact! I just found out that affiliated links automatically got turned back on when I wasn't looking!)

Anyways, I already got my art fed to AI when Deviantart pulled the same crap ...Even if I turned that setting off ASAP.

That doesn't take it out of the dataset and BOY is it a pain to request that they take your art out! The only way I found had me do it one by one so I didn't bother... ESPECIALLY since the site sucked so the search refreshed every time. And the search also sucked.

Fortunately there was only old art, rough sketches for a Pokemon fangame, and and a few assests for it with only one being made from scratch.

But my art Tumblr has everything I've posted for nearly a decade! There's 953 posts with only a teeny fraction that's not art! And I don't even wanna check if it already got yanked overnight...

PS: My art has been stolen and reposted before. Mainly by virus ridden Tumblr mirrors and some wallpaper sites. At least that's what I'm aware of.

Soooo I probably can't even remove twice‐stolen art. (Yes, I'm counting the AI dataset as the second.)
