Goodbye. It is a word used too often and for the wrong reasons. Goodbye because I am leaving and I won't be coming back. Goodbye because I am dying and there's no going back. Goodbye because I don't love you and don't want to stay anymore. Goodbye because you're full of problems I don't want to deal with anymore. No one should have to admit that they are used to hearing that word. No little girl or boy should be given the chance to say, "Its okay, I'm used to it." No one should be given the opportunity to admit that goodbye is but now merely a word that rolls off of the tongues of those who lie that they will stay. Goodbye. Goodbye. Try saying that. Try looking into the eyes of a broken soul and saying those words. Try being that broken soul, staring into the eyes of the one whom you once trusted and watching them walk out of that door from the house that you call your life. Try feeling the everlasting loneliness hurt no longer but become a mere feeling you have grown used to. Try staring into the eyes of someone you love and watch four little words slipped off of their tongue like air on skin. "I'm used to it." I am praying for the day when little girls and boys no longer have to watch mommy and daddy fight to the point one is in tears and the other walks out of that front door. I am praying for the day when mothers and fathers no longer have to stare at slit wrists of a lifeless son or daughter because this world was too difficult for them. I am praying for the day when boys and girls, men and women, I am praying for the day when they will no longer have to experience this kind of undying pain! For the day when boys and girls, men and women, can be freed from this everlasting hold on this world which is but a single word. Goodbye. It is one word. A single word that can trigger years and years of heartbreak. It can bring the strongest of men to their knees and the weakest of children to suicide. It can bring not droplets of rain but a downpour of sadness on a sunny day. It can even make the rainbow seem dark and gray. Goodbye. It is a word this world has used too often. And not for the right ways. Goodbye mommy and daddy, this world's not right for me. Goodbye my sweet child, me and daddy aren't working. Goodbye my lovely family, my time has come to an end. Goodbye, my great audience this slam poem's at an end.
