Today was consumed with music making, performing and improvising for Chikara Matsumoto's animation, the event "The Last Tango in Tenjinyama". I had such a rewarding day/night with the Tenjinyama crew。But my video documentation favours one particular little friend, meet ともえ-ちゃん. とてもかわいいね. So far during this residency I've written two fairly electronic songs. I've gotten deep into my new gear but I've missed playing an acoustic instrument. There's a piano downstairs in the common area but I'm self conscious to use it too often. Last night after riding home from a pizza restaurant I noticed a guitar in the studio office. I was allowed to borrow it. I couldn't contain my excitement. Even if I don't use guitar in final songs I find it really intuitive to write with. I wrote a song today for my Mum in this park. Melbourne, I'm back at last. I am settling into my old routine alas! It is so cold and dark! I stand teetering on the edge of a misty concrete table (pictured) waiting for the sunlight to waken me into a spritely gait. So I can continue attacking life's goals with gusto. Gusto I left at the service stations crossing from Calais into other un-sui-chartered French territory. Gusto I left at the countless bin chickens aka Ibis budgets encountered in the wee hours for just a little nap like some lost ginger kitten seeking shelter from the rain. Gusto I gave on stage at the many festivals twisting backwards and doing squat & pony tail twirls... Gusto I spent running around the avenues of New York searching for a bargain price on Satin fabric for my Susan dream creation. Melbourne! I have lots of work to do before I head off again on another music jaunt. Warm me with your friends, bicycle rides, nice music. central heating and home cooked meals. Now, off to see if my car still starts and if it does, I'll go in search of a bounty to fill my pantry with. Good night. Tumblr. It’s been years since I properly engaged with you. I’ve began a new writing and photography habit. It’s not new exactly. Just active. So here I will be documenting through occasional words and images my experiences. Some posters to catch you up on where I have been. I designed these posters all but the NO ZU poster. Lots of really exciting news to share soon. Blog has been quiet in the last year but worry not! It’s not because of lack of musical activity, in fact quite the opposite. I’ve been too busy to update this regularly. Headed to New Zealand next week... and will be uploading photos from the adventures of 2015 soon (NYC, USA & Big Sound, Album launches etc). I’ve also been performing in NO ZU and we’re headed on a national tour very soon! Japan I’ll be seeing you in July for shows & quiet composing times for an artist residency... <3
