“Maybe only Bud Spencer and Terence Hill would have been better. I loved them very much in Don't Be Bad, they already have a deep friendship with each other on a private level which is fundamental to the film. In The Eight Mountains there is something difficult to reproduce which is physical intimacy in male friendship. Perhaps this is why it's so strong in mountaineering. Two companions are tied up, they touch each other, they sleep together, they camp out. For many of us it's a bit embarrassing at first, touching each other, hugging, helping each other, but my Pietro and Bruno grew up together and never felt embarrassed when they found themselves after years touching, hugging, maybe fighting, diving into a lake. Luca and Alessandro already have all that and it will be the key point of the film."
