Hi Summer, I'm not sure if you still check this blog or anything but I wanted to say hi and let you know I think your stories and your writing style are amazing. I ran across your stuff from the Stag and the Quiver fic when I was just first getting into Kirinwill a while back and it's still one of my favorite fics. I wanted to reach out since I read some of your stories again recently. I'd love to hear any tips you might have for writing or just to chat, thanks!
Oh wow, thanks! I'm glad you like it so much!
I'm currently in between fandoms and haven't written in a while, so I suppose my best advice is “find a work that inspires you, and people to appreciate it with,” but if you've accomplished that, my next suggestion is “talk to people.” Looks like you're ahead of the game there! Sooner or later I'll find a new fandom to build a nest in.
Honestly, fandom is what you put into it. Don't be embarrassed to share whatever you come up with - some of my offhand shitposts have blown up beyond my wildest dreams, and sometimes meta and headcanons start conversations with great new people.
As for writing specifically? Find a buddy. Have passionate conversations about the things you love and see what fic grows out of your wild ideas and emotional momentum, and then find a beta to help bang it into shape. The Stag and the Quiver was going to be about 600 words long and just be the deer scene, but things got a little out of hand. My betas also argued me into (and out of) quite a few things, and the story is stronger for it.
