2:00 pm, at the infirmary
-----------------------------------‐------------------
The infirmary had been painfully busy today, capture the flag had been today leaving multiple campers injured.
The infirmary had finally quieted down, and James flopped back on one of the beds. Finally, relaxation.
Only for the sound of someone walking into the infirmary ruining the peaceful silence. James looked up, ready to scold whoever it was, probably for no reason, only for his eyes to fall on lily.
"What're you doing here?" James asked
Lily froze, not expecting anyone to still be in here. “U-uhm… just trying to check in on my cabin. Some new kids got themselves hurt.”
She hid her arm behind her back, obviously trying not to be obvious.
"Awww, you care about them, how cute" James teased, sitting up. "Too bad no one's here, everyone left a while ago."
“Ah.”
She stood there awkwardly, avoiding his gaze.
Gods, please leave…
James was not leaving anytime soon.
James watched as Lily didnt move. "You dont need anything else? Im happy to help, you know."
“No, I don’t.”
Lily kept looking away, her other arm fiddling with her shirt — torn a bit. Likely from capture the flag earlier.
"Then why are you still sticking around?" James questioned, giving her a look.
He stood up and began approaching her. "Its alrighr if you need help, you know that right?" James smelled like vanilla, pine trees, and something floral.
“I’m fine, James.”
She turned ever so slightly, and James was able to catch a glimpse of it. A large scratch down her forearm that was poorly cleaned.
James grabbed her arm carefully. "This doesnt look fine. it could get infected if untreated, you know?"
“Let go of me-“
Lily tugged her arm out of his grip, wincing.
“I just came here for some bandages.”
"Your hurt, you need some nectar or ambrosia, that cut looks bad."
James looked at her. "Lily, please let me help."
Lily paused, looking away.
This was his job.
Her pride warred with her common sense, before she finally gave in.
“…fine.”
James smiled. "Thanks, Lily." James replied, walking over to quickly go grab some of the supplies.
He walked back over, handing her some of the nectar and ambrosia to eat.
James took her arm, inspecting the wound carefully. He started applying disinfectant.
"You know... I've been meaning to tell you something."
Lily glanced up at him, raising an eyebrow. She sat down on one of the cots. “What might that be?”
"I think I like Regulus.. I mean, I do like him. And he mightve kissed me too." James responded.
Lily paused.
“Really?”
She was lost in thought for a moment, not knowing how to respond. She eventually sighed, running her other hand through her hair.
“…thank you… for telling me.”
James nodded. "I didnt mean too... your still my girlfriend. Im just confused, I like you both and I dont know what to do." James told her.
“I know… I just…”
She looked away.
“…why Regulus? Do you… even know why?”
Lily knew she was being blunt. It was intentional.
James shook his head. "I dont know." He told her quietly.
"Are you angry?" James asked, bandage the wound.
“…I don’t know.”
Lily looked down, watching him wrap her arm.
“…I’ll need some time to think. Is that okay..?”
James nodded his head.
"Yeah, I understand. Its fine." He told her.
