he couldn’t help but to smile at her as she spoke, he certainly knew that she cared, and he always liked to know that but it was almost hard not to notice that she worried too. “nah, i think just a distraction is better than anything else.” it didn’t always take much to get him focused on something else, he just needed that push at first. “i can teach you whenever you want, em. i’m free most of the time i don’t have a shift. besides, we’ll need to start out of the water first anyway.”

she was more than happy to offer him a distraction. as long as she was helping. “whenever i want...” she mulled over the options. she didn’t really allow herself much free time. she felt like for asher she could make an exception. “I’ll have to see what days i have off that work with your off days.” she chimed happily. genuinely excited to spend time with him.  “ its probably a good thing we start out of the water. getting in to the water is going to be a challenge on its own... i wouldn’t want to add that on top of trying to learn how to stand on a board properly.” she sighed a little. leaning a bit more into him as a light breeze washed over them.

chess had a smile on her face as she looked at him. she knew she trusted him enough to tattoo her, but it did extend beyond that, not that she was ready to actually admit to it. she was brazen when it came to hook ups because they were easy, feelings were different and she ignored them as best she could until they were all sorted. “sure thing,” she playfully winked at him as she stood up and proceeded to take off her leather jacket, lying it on the chair she was just sitting in. removing her shirt was no issue, since she didn’t mind being in just her bra for him to do his work.

milo would be a liar if he said he wasn’t tempted to watch her as she shed the layers. but that would have been highly unprofessional. so he kept his eyes focused on the computer. thankful he’d already made a digital copy of the sketch. making it nice and easy to print it off on to the transfer paper. once he was finished he sat himself down on his tool. gathering the things he was going to need before rolling it all towards his chair. “alright hop on up.” he patted the chair with a smile. waiting for a beat before he reached for the transfer. Looking at her for a long moment he right arm. “Arm up.”

asher managed a small smile as he looked at her, “i’m sure you don’t want to hear about my job.” however, he did move and wrap one arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer for a small side hug. he knew she was there if he needed to talk and that was definitely nice to have, he certainly needed people he could be around that weren’t involved with his job.

it wasn’t that she didn’t want to hear about his job. she just always worried about him. it made it hard to hear about his job. em leaned into the hug as he arm took its place around her shoulders. usually, she shied away from most physical affection. it made her feel a bit uneasy. but that wasn’t the case with asher. “ i want to if it will help you feel better.” the words were soft as she turned her head to look at him a little. “but if you don’t wanna talk about it we can talk about something else.... like...” she paused as she looked out at the water again. “when are you going to teach me how to surf.” a small smile curled at the corners of her lips. she knew that she probably wasn’t going to be any good at it. also the first real challenge was going to be getting her in the water at all. but the thought was nice.

chess had a love for ink that wasn’t really shown on her body. she always planned for more but she refused to put just anything on her body, or to let just anyone do it. her eyes took in the sketch as she took the book from him, lips curling up because it was definitely her type of thing. “i love it,” she spoke, her eyes however, dropped down to where his hand brushed over her ribs. chess flicked her eyes back up to his face, lip between her teeth. “alright, i want it.”

milo grinned a little when she agreed. “awesome.” the tall man chimed before getting up out of his chair. reaching down he took the sketchbook back from her. “i just need to get this set up on a transfer then we can start.” he nodded his head a little as he looked over the sketch again. it really was going to look perfect on chess. he looked up at her for a moment. “not sure what all you got on, but if you’re comfortable going down to just your bra. It would make it eay. But I can also work around a tank top.” he offered her a small smile. he wasn’t completely sure if chess was overly modest. she didn’t seem the type. but he’s worked with plenty of people who always seemed to feel weird about being so exposed in the shop.

colton looked up at the blonde, annoyed at himself a little for making her repeat herself because he’d been so caught up in his DRAMA. “sorry.. i uh, yeah actually a whiskey would be nice if you’ve got it.” they knew they did, but their mind wasn’t in the right frame at that moment, clearly. he looked back at his phone to put it away before he heard his name and almost flinched, before realising she wasn’t knowing who he was form his MUSIC, but from his restaurant. “yeah.. that’s me,” he smiles slightly, “now i feel rude not knowing your name.”

“one whiskey got it.” she smiled before shaking her head a little at his words. “oh don’t feel rude. i mean we haven’t like officially met so you wouldn’t really know my name. i’ve just seen you around a couple times... but i’m emelia.” the blonde rocked a little on her feet. “moody’s is just my favorite place to eat out when I can.” honestly em probably could have gone on and on about how much she liked it. she became a little obsessive about things she liked. but she figured that was a little weird. so she just kind of left it at that.

asher let his gaze turn back to the water as emelia settled herself down next to him. the breeze ruffled through his hair as he let out a deep breath and turned to look back at the blonde. “just had a tough day at work, em. i’m not always the best at getting my mind off the tough times.”

em chewed at her lip. since they’d become friends. she’d often worried about his line of work. it was dangerous to say the least and she still didn’t understand his want to take that risk. but asher was good at his job she understood that. “anything you want to talk about?” she asked quietly. she wasn’t sure if he needed silence or an ear to listen. really whatever he wanted she was willing to fill the role.

colt had been staring intently at their phone, the first time they’d BOTHERED to open twitter since he’d cancelled his last show in another city days ago and insults were flying in, even some tags in gossip sites mentioning everyone’s DISTASTE at the abandonment. “h-huh? did you say something?” thinking he’d heard someone behind speaking, he turns.

em noticed someone has filled one of her empty tables. she hoped she hadn’t kept them waiting too long. setting the tray down she quickly made her way over. “can I get you something to drink?” she asked lightly. her teeth worrying against her lip as she took the person in. her head tilted a bit when she was asked to repeat herself. ‘oh I was just asking if you wanted something to drink but i can come back if you need a moment..” she paused for a moment before speaking again. “hey you’re colton right?” she asked curiously. “you own moody’s.” it was probably her favorite place of all time to eat. if she went out for dinner that was.

he could hear the sound of footsteps near him though he didn’t look, simply thinking that it was someone walking by. the voice that sounded next to him was what made him look up though, and he recognised the blonde hair instantly. “hey,” his voice was a little gruff, though his lips tilted up a tiny bit in the corners. “not too bad, want to sit?” he asked, patting the sand next to him.

“yeah,” em gave him a little nod before shifting to sit down next to him. the blonde took a moment to pull her sandals off. setting them on the sand next to her. “what’s up?” emelia turned her attention back to her companion. she was used to seeing him at the beach. but usually, he was in the water, a board in hand. today he seemed kind of somber.

a busy day generally meant a hard day. asher enjoyed his job, he did, he liked knowing he helped out and made sure people were safe. most the time he managed it, he wouldn’t be good at his job if he didn’t, but other times, there were close calls and things they couldn’t stop. today was simply stressful, with a close call in the middle of his shift that he found himself at the beach when it was over. he sat himself at the shoreline, letting the water lap at his feet as he stared out at the ocean.

it wasn’t often that em allowed herself idle time in a day. she was either working, studying or taking care of her father. but it seemed she hadn’t jammed as much into her day as she’d thought she had. which is why she could herself walking along the beach. her eyes watched as the waves crashed into the shallows. it was calming to listen to the sound of the water mix with the sound of the patrons on the beach. scanning the beach she hesitated a bit when she spotted asher sitting in the sand. “hey..” she stilled next to where he was sitting. “how’s the water?” she asked softly her eyes glancing towards the water that hit his feet. a warm smile on her lips.

em’s mother died when she was just a baby. leaving her to be raised by a single father. for the most part, it was a pretty normal up brings. though emelia’s more girly nature always seemed to make it hard for her to connect with him. causing her to be hyper-focused on being the perfect daughter to make him happy.

em is extremely hard on herself about just about everything. she will never settle for just okay. it always has to be perfect. which makes her a little intense for most people.

her constant need for control and perfection has ended a lot of relationships for her. making her a little numb to the idea of romance. though she is a hopeless romantic deep down.

she doesn’t do well in most social situations. but she’s learned to fake it at this point. hiding the awkwardness and discomfort behind a pretty smile.

sometimes she links about leaving calypso bay. but doesn’t know where she would go. so she’s just stayed put.

Willa is short for Willamena. They were named after their grandmother. It isn’t often that Willa shares their full name. Mostly because it makes them sound like a character out of peter pan. and they hate it.

Willa loves the ocean and all the creatures in it. They spend a lot of time working with conservation groups. Making websites for them or writing about them on their blog.

They enjoy the company of animals over most humans. That doesn’t mean they don’t want to help people. They just find it easier to deal with an animal over people. people can be too stuck in their ways and uptight for them sometimes.

Since as long as Willa can remember, they haven’t really stayed in one place for very long. Even as a child, their mother moved them around a lot. The older darling saw life as one big adventure which was passed down to Willa. They have been all over the world at this point. 

Willa isn’t sure how long they are going to be in Calypso Bay. It's just a stop on their life journey. But over the last few months, they have really come to love it.

the shop was pretty slow, it was a nice day so milo wasn’t too surprised by it. really he got to draw more which was always a plus. hearing the chime of the door he stood up. their receptionist was out for the day. so he was playing double duty if anyone came in. “hey,” the tall man sauntered to the front of the shop. “what can I do for you today,” milo’s people skills usually weren’t the best. but being in the shop always seemed to make him a little more at ease with strangers.

“and here i was thinking that you would miss me the second i’m out of your sight.” she joked, biting down on her lower lip. it was almost, too easy, so easy to be around him, to be carefree in a way. her nose scrunched up as she lent over to look at the sketch, “definitely not.” chess grabbed a chair and slid it in beside his, “show me what you’ve got.”

flipping through a few pages he stopped on one that he thought would suit her most. “It’s a fine line tat,” he started as he handed the book over to her. “I think it would be a nice addition. nice and clean, kind of delicate.” his eyes moved over her as he spoke. Scouting out the place he felt would be the best for it. “Maybe on you’re ribs.” his hand lifted so he could lightly brush the area that he was talking about.
