Secondly, the land grant universities with their county agents? They still exist and provide information to everyone, regardless of skin color or income. It is known today as the cooperative extension service, and it is taxpayer funded.

Every state has one, although the quality varies, it all depends on how well the state decides to fund it.

Technically farmers do get money from the CRP to not farm, but only if the land is highly vulnerable to erosion and only if the farmer commits to 10-15 years of not farming.

It's sort of a matter of public health. If rain regularly washes soil off the ground into to ditch, the waterways will fill up with mud and flood all the time. Moreover, this transported sediment often carries pesticides and fertilizer on it, so water erosion is correlated with chemical pollution, eutrophication and hypoxia.

I know you're joking but I need you to understand that the crops we feed livestock is almost categorically different from what we eat. Humans eat a lot of specialty crops (fruit and vegetables) and animals eat mainly row crops (corn and soybean).
