What I feel people frequently forget about autistic special interests is that they aren't always information based. They may simply be visual or mental

Someone may have a special interest in a show, but instead of that meaning that they will talk about that show often, it may mean they watch that show extremely frequently.

Special interests are ways of regulating, not simply encyclopedias we have in our heads. Sometimes it's watching something frequently. Maybe only listening to one genre of music, maybe it's a collection, maybe it's an action. I'm tired of it only being seen as autistic people's personal encyclopedias

Have you ever read the lore provided for Author Quest: The Gelfling Gathering 2013?

In 2013, The Jim Henson Company held a contest called Author Quest, in which contestants could enter a story and win up $10,000 and their work canonized. The winner was J.M. Lee, who would go on to write many more canon novels for The Dark Crystal! But did you know that contestants were given a pdf full of lore, characters, and rules? You can read this pdf with the link below! It's no longer available on the official site, but can be found via the wayback machine!

You may have seen Fandom pages with quotes from The Whereabouts on the Lost Mystics, or heard discussions about skeksis spreading anti-mystic propaganda! This is where those come from!
